How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

“Offering more of what gamers saw in the last entry, Hidden Through Time 2: Discovery rounds out a worthy trio, even if it curiously shares numbering with its predecessor. A sizable bug, presently rendering the game impossible to 100%, can't be ignored. But, with a slightly better optimization overall, plus an improved theme, this is still a good entry to grab when it's discounted or patched.”

“Hidden Through Time 2: Myths & Magic invites us on a historical journey through magical eras, featuring enhanced visuals and the ability to create your own world using a creative editor. Although the game offers engaging moments, minor glitches are an eyesore and turn what should be a relaxing experience into moments that can sometimes be frustrating. Despite these challenges, the sequel to Hidden Through Time remains an interesting title for those who want to push the boundaries of their logical thinking, and perhaps have a little fun along the way.”

“Hidden Through Time 2: Discovery is a lovely hidden object game that offers a blend of relaxation and challenge. Its beautifully drawn scenes, calming music, and engaging gameplay make it fun to play. If you have played the previous games in the series, you will most likely enjoy Hidden Through Time 2: Discovery and feel right at home, as the gameplay is similar to the previous one.”

“Anyone who has played a Hidden Through Time game and enjoyed it will love Hidden Through Time 2: Discovery, as it truly is just more of the same. While it could have been sold as an expansion or DLC to Myths & Magic, it still has a lot of content for a decent price, coming in at around $10, especially when you take into consideration that these maps are hand-drawn. The relaxing experience of searching for hidden items in the whimsical maps with aliens and monsters provides a cozy experience. Having more of the same isn't a bad thing, and not every game has to be fantastically updated or changed, although it still confuses me why Hidden Through Time 2: Discovery isn't an expansion.”

“Hidden Through Time 2: Discovery keeps the series smooth fun. If it were a DLC rather than a standalone game, it would make HTT2 a whole greater than the sum of its parts by building on and augmenting everything we've seen in Myths & Magic in Architect mode and its online creations. In this way, however, we only have the strangeness of seeing a sequence separated into two isolated parts that, even though they are good in themselves, divide forces instead of adding them.”

“It's a simple enough concept, but Hidden Through Time 2: Discovery brings puzzles, creativity, humour and challenge to the table in an adorable package.”

“As stated at the outset, for Hidden Through Time 2: Discovery, I could have reused the previous review, but that would not have been fair to the development team's efforts. They worked hard to offer a series of new levels for our pixel-hunting pleasure. While everything changes to remain the same, the game offers a light and fun experience. More like an add-on than a new episode, it's perfect for a few relaxing hours during this hot summer, a perfect appetizer while waiting for more substantial productions.”

“Hidden Through Time 2: Discovery may be a casual title, catering to a specific audience, but even for them it is hard to justify its existence. As a DLC pack it would have been more than fine, but as full release it fails. Overall, it does not offer enough content to be a standalone release. And it is a shame because the previous game offered a hardcore experience for the fans of the hidden objects genre without feeling like a rip-off. The value proposal of Discovery is missing completely.”
