How this score was computed

The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

The Brotherhood for the third time managed to tell a strange, sometimes nasty story, based on the ancient genre of point'n'click. The small studio is gradually developing and growing above itself - Bone Totem can be called its best game at the moment.

A horror adventure that has a great sense of ambiance and dread, but that has some design weaknesses

Stasis: Bone Totem's challenging puzzles may cause a headache and bring progression to a halt on more than one occasion, so it is best to be prepared for critical thinking and a little trial and error. The excellently written characters and superb voice acting really drive the desire to progress, and the sci-fi horror plot is backed up by immaculate prerendered backgrounds that sadly take a dip in quality on Switch, especially on the puzzle screens. Although not without its faults and the odd bug here and there, this point-and-click adventure has still transitioned greatly to console, and the effort to bring such a title to Switch is hugely appreciated.

STASIS: BONE TOTEM delivers what it promises, and will satisfy any horror fan who will consciously choose it for its story and atmosphere, knowing that it is somewhat demanding in terms of reading dedication.

While Stasis: Bone Totem is at its best with a keyboard and mouse, the clunky controls didn't take away from my enjoyment of this point-and-click horror with its compelling story, absolutely brilliant characters, and challenging puzzles.

With a great underwater setting and an interesting story featuring lots to uncover, Stasis: Bone Totem's mix of horror and puzzles mean it is a veritable sunken treasure.

Stasis: Bone Totem is a point-and-click graphic adventure that exploits the classic mechanics of the genre in a modern and appealing technical setting, although the game was made almost entirely by only two people. Its strength lies in its horror-tinged sci-fi atmospheres and in its narrative which presents interesting reflections on ethics and corporations. The writing style is verbose: this might be a limitation for some, but it is an indispensable ingredient in the creation of a world that winks at cosmic horror.
