How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

| Metacritic user ratings | – | – | 0 |
| Post-patch Steam reviews (trust-weighted) | 97% | 93 | 59 |

“A daring adventure with something worthwhile to say, Decline’s Drops is a solid debut title from developer Le Moulin aux Bulles. In a sea of side-scrollers, a tale about environmentalism wrapped in a challenging platformer is bold. While the gameplay itself does not always land and difficulty spikes abound, it is still a video game that will satisfy anyone looking for an apparent distraction with a powerful message.”

“Decline’s Drops might not win over many platform brawler naysayers, but damn, it is not for lack of trying. Its platforming stage design, combat encounters, and character verbset are only outmatched by the heaviest of hitters in this space, like Kirby, and even then not by as much as you’d probably expect. Couple that with world-class visuals and a soundtrack to match, and you have all the makings of a modern platformer classic that I’m truly thankful I got to sink my teeth into for review purposes, as it likely would have gone under my radar otherwise. Don’t let it go under yours.”

“As a whole, Decline’s Drops is a beautiful game. The art, style, and combat blend nicely into a package that is simply fun. I enjoyed learning how to master my main character and uncovering different secrets. I did feel that I could have been rewarded a bit more for skilful gameplay, but even just exploring the game and finding secrets was already very enjoyable. Decline’s Drops is a lot of fun, and I recommend it.”

“I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Decline's Drops. It is fun, challenging and has a delightful soundtrack. Its asking price might be a bit high, but honestly for that price you get a well crafted hand drawn passionately made platformer, that will last you easily over 5-7 hours (depending on if you try to 100% it), and the mechanics are deep enough that I could see speed runners enjoy it a lot. Honestly isn't that everything you would want from a good platformer?”

“Decline’s Drops is a heavily stylized indie experience that takes standard platforming mechanics and combines it with its own unique vision. The atmosphere of this game is meticulously crafted to tell a melancholy story about environmentalism. If you’re a fan of platformers, I would recommend checking out Decline’s Drops, though be warned about potential frustration at the hands of imprecise controls. Overall, Decline’s Drops is a good game that can become truly great with a little more gameplay tweaking.”

“Decline’s Drops is an incredibly charming, surprisingly deep, and meaty 7 to 10-hour adventure. Minor UI static-ness and finicky combo registrations aside, its stellar hand-drawn presentation, punchy brawler combat, and excellent stage design make it a must-play for platformer fans on Xbox.”
