How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

“Isonzo is an atmospheric FPS set during World War I. The game strives to be as authentic as possible and to depict the Italian front in its near-real form. Historical locations, weapons, and skins, combined with the right sound design, will quickly draw you into the grim world of war. The game mechanics and physics work flawlessly. A major downside is the poorly designed onboarding for newcomers, who are greeted with a lousy tutorial and a lot of deaths, forcing them to struggle for a long time and learn from their own mistakes before they can make progress and understand how the game works. In single-player, the AI spoils the experience. Isonzo is, in any case, a great shooter that I recommend to all fans of historical games.”

“Isonzo changes the formula of the WW1 game series -- and it's all for the better.”

“Isonzo is a decent game. Solid in many areas, but never one to show off, the title delivers a good gameplay core, and offers it up at a reasonable price. Performance problems aside, good gunplay and interesting maps are enough to make the experience worth it, at least in the short term. A campaign or a large pool of maps could certainly enhance the value of the title, but even without it, you have a lean, satisfying experience that will be especially appealing to anyone with an interest in the First World War.”

“Massive respect for Blackmill Games & M2H, who went from Verdun and Tannenberg to this excellent authentic shooter. Having this slow-paced and realistic experience on Xbox is a welcome change from all the rush-and-win shooters.”

“Blackmill Games' dedication to history and realism is certainly commendable, but the result is a game that will only appeal to a very select audience. That said, Isonzo is capable of producing some incredibly tense and atmospheric gameplay.”

“Although it does not feature exceptional graphics quality, nor a large amount of content, Isonzo is definitely recommended for those who like to have a little bit of realism and immersion in their shooters.”

“World War I returns with the Italian theatre authentically recreated for some grounded, methodical FPS action. The real war was a grind and Isonzo maybe captures that feeling a little too well with a lack of variety in maps and modes, coupled with some major technical and visual issues. Even so, it’s an earnest effort that’ll draw in appreciators of history and those who like their FPS experiences to be more tactical and threatening than the Battlefield 2042s of the world. ”

“I feel like you know if you want to give a World War 1 shooter a try. This is a niche thing and you know if you’re in it. Also hi, haven’t seen you at the niche meetings.”

“Two years after its release, Isonzo deserves even more attention from FPS enthusiasts. Although it shares only its setting with Battlefield 1, it offers a completely different experience. Everything is slower and less frantic, aiming to best recreate a World War I battlefield. Immersive from start to finish, it is currently and undoubtedly one of the best FPS games on the subject. A true gem that deserves to be discovered.”

“We're in a milsim boom and Isonzo's thrilling, if limiting battlefields fit nicely into it.”

“Really good hardcore stuff, it’d be perfect with a squad.”

“Isonzo is another amazing entry into the WW1 shooter series. Its gameplay feels even more refined, offering up worthwhile innovations, engrossing modes and phenomenal maps. While its online component is exceptional, unfortunately, the same cannot be said for its offline matches. If you're looking to play Isonzo solo, maybe wait for an update. However, if you're hoping to play online, then there really isn't another WW1 shooter quite like it on the market.”
