How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.
| Component | Positive | Quality (0-100) | Weight (pseudo-reviews) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Press reviews (OpenCritic) | – | 77 | 16 |
| All-time Steam reviews | 96% | 92 | 84 |
| Metacritic user ratings | – | – | 0 |
| Post-patch Steam reviews (trust-weighted) | 93% | 88 | 52 |
| Calibration prior (typical game) | – | 72 | 50 |

“There's a reason a game like ILA: A Frosty Glide has been prominent at events like Wholesome Directs, and it's apparent from the moment you put your hands on it. It's an incredible ambassador for the cozy game movement, enveloping its players in the warm blanket of good movement, lo-fi music, and a self-empowering narrative. If you're looking for a game to get you right into that winter mood, look no further.”

“Ila is an experience in motion. My heroine’s skatebroom glides over snowbanks, pierces ice sheets, and rockets down winding slopes. Each interconnected but distinct environment holds creative ways to put your skills to the test, along with collectable objects which can increase your wealth, upgrade your fashion, boost your magical abilities, and provide context for the world. Every new environment is a delight to explore, and as I grow more powerful, the layers of each level open up to me.”

“ILA: A Frosty Glide is a chill and cosy game set on a snowy island as you search for your cat. The tricky part is you can get lost in the same area for a long time!”

“ILA: A Frosty Glide has some excellent gameplay, I thoroughly enjoyed exploring and collecting. There is a lot to savour and take pleasure in when roaming around, uncovering the secrets and customising Ila’s appearance. If rating the game solely on that aspect, it would score highly. However, I found some of the platforming too frustrating and too difficult to look fondly on my time with ILA: A Frosty Glide. The extreme highs and lows of emotion in trying and just not succeeding left me disheartened. If you like challenging platforming and lots of exploring, then this game might be for you, but for me…”

“You know that cozy game you can play on the weekend and finish in one fell swoop? While this description perfectly fits many 3D platformers, I'd classify ILA: A Frosty Glide as having a cozier, more relaxing feel than usual.”
