How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

| Metacritic user ratings | – | – | 0 |
| Post-patch Steam reviews (trust-weighted) | 97% | 93 | 24 |

“Spilled! is a little gem of a game that you might overlook amid the flood of bigger titles, but you definitely shouldn’t. It offers a pleasant hour of relaxation and the joy of a powerful environmental message, as well as the feeling that you’re doing something worthwhile. It’s a game that won’t take up much of your time, but one you’ll keep thinking about long after you’ve finished playing it.”

“Though it may not delve deeply into complex narrative themes or offer extensive replayability, Spilled! shines as a heartfelt meditation on restoration and care. For those who appreciate games that prioritize atmosphere over challenge, it offers a fleeting but memorable escape into a solarpunk-inspired dreamscape. In its own modest way, Spilled! reminds us that even small acts of healing can ripple outward, leaving lasting impressions long after the screen fades to black.”

“I played the demo of Spilled! about a year ago for an Impressions article here on LadiesGamers. I liked it so much that it went immediately to the top of my wishlist. Thankfully, the full version of the game is even better than the demo, and I will return many more times to Spilled! and its cheerful red boat.”

“At only thirty-minutes of gameplay, Spilled! was honestly a nice cosy game to wind-down with. There is no doubt this game is visually high quality. The calming music and soft, dare I say ASMR sound effects made the entire game really enjoyable. I do however have two small quality of life suggestions. The first being to improve the scoopers so that they hold bottles a little better. The second would be to add a cute little horn for the boat. Honestly, even without these I would have given this game our highest award but it felt just that little bit too short. I wish it had a little more play-time! For just being a charming and fun little game Spilled! gets the Thumb Culture Gold Award”

It feels good to be cleaning up these waters, and it is empowering to know that you can start small to have an influence. There’s satisfying visual feedback to show you are having an impact on this world, where Spilled! is absolutely sublime in design and execution.”

“Spilled is a fantastic little game that you can complete at your own pace. It’s based on an original idea that will charm your trousers off. The satisfaction of incrementally fixing up the world releases all the dopamine. Plus not to mention the lovely sprite design, if you are looking for something slower that you can complete at your own speed, then this is for you.”
