How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

| Post-patch Steam reviews (trust-weighted) | 100% | 97 | 2 |

“BrokenLore: Don’t Watch is a quiet triumph in indie horror. It’s less about monsters in the dark and more about what happens when you stop facing the light. Thoughtful, disturbing, and deeply personal, it captures the horror of isolation in a world that’s always watching. It won’t be for everyone, but for those who want their horror games with substance, symbolism, and a psychological punch, this is a must-play. It’s short. It’s strange. And it might just stay with you longer than any jump scare ever could.”

“When it comes to psychological horror, it is rare to find a title that can truly strike deep without resorting to giant monsters, predictable jumpscares, or an excessively pushed mythology. BrokenLore: DON’T WATCH, the new game releasing on Steam on April 25, 2025, developed by Serafini Productions and published in collaboration with Shochiku, is a different experience. Silent, unsettling, slow. And for this reason, absolutely disconcerting.”

“The second short standalone game in the BrokenLore series, Don't Watch has some merit with its dive into the fears and threats facing a young social recluse, and there's promise in its varied gameplay mechanics. It’s a shame, then, that it’s too inconsistent in almost every way for a truly impactful, worthwhile experience.”

“The game delivered a terrifying psychological experience through a distinctive interactive narrative style that sparks curiosity from the very first moments of gameplay. It stood out with its high-quality artistic and visual direction, meticulous attention to detail, and excellent sound design. Despite the short length and some minor technical issues, the game successfully offered an outstanding experience for fans of Japanese psychological horror and lovers of short narrative-driven games.”

“BrokenLore: DON'T WATCH offers a more intense, close quarters horror experience than its predecessor. Once again being just over an hour long, this can be completed in one sitting and builds up to what is looking to be a great anthology horror set.”

“"When horror becomes a mirror for the self" BrokenLore: DON'T WATCH is not just a horror game; it's a suffocating psychological journey into the depths of isolation and guilt. With a calm yet disturbing art style, the game succeeds in delivering a disorienting and disjointed experience without the need for shocks or excessive visual violence. It's a short but memorable experience, offering a unique model for contemporary interactive horror.”
