How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

“Luma Island has been out on Steam for some time, almost a year in fact. So this time, I wasn’t there when it was first released. However, in this case, I’m happy that the game has been out for almost a year. Luma Island is so complete, keeps surprising you with out-of-the-ordinary additions and has excellent quality of life elements. I think this is the result of listening to players’ input and wishes, of tweaking so that bugs are squashed and tying the entire package up with a beautiful bow. I’m really delighted at how Feel Free Games took the familiar elements of simulation games, gave them their own twist and added some more to Luma Island.”

“When it boils down to it, Luma Island is ultimately a fun game. The decision to make all so players could complete the game without having to swap jobs might have been the right one but it was incredibly disappointing to find out. With no stamina bars, there’s no need for food, but still, it would have been nice if the things you crafted were useable. That was my main complaint besides the frustration of overlapping traps in the temples.”

“Luma Island offers something for everyone with a love for relaxing and inviting games. Grinding aside, the farming, crafting, and exploration aspects are all equally viable experiences. There are some minor frustrations and a few shallow moments, but on the whole Luma Island offers an endlessly appealing escape from the real world.”
