How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

“Korea. The IL-2 Series is arguably the best and most accessible entry in the series to date, especially for new players thanks to the control-binding wizard. In its current state, it sets up a great foundation but can still use some hotfixes, content patches and discounts.”

“The IL-2 series pulls off a feat I no longer thought possible: bringing combat simulation into the realm of the mainstream without compromising its demanding nature. The initial impact is visual, exquisitely detailed cockpits, stunning aircraft, and a fully modeled pilot, but it becomes a truly sensory experience once you put on a VR headset. At the controls, the flight models feel authentic, with each aircraft possessing its own distinct personality, while the Commander Career mode dares to put you in charge of an entire regiment, a bold move that shakes up my usual habits with the series. It isn't perfect, the cockpits still lack clickable controls, the clouds lack substance, and the combat AI still has room for improvement, but this simulator, set in a forgotten era bridging the gap between propeller and jet, has captivated me like nothing else in a long time. It would be a shame for it to fly under the radar.”
