How this score was computed

The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

Manairons is a game full of contradictions. On the one hand, it offers an enchanting world inspired by Catalan folklore, striking audiovisual styling, and a pleasantly intimate runtime that prevents it from exhausting its ideas. On the other hand, its short legs are repeatedly tripped up by imprecise controls and a confusing sense of space. As a result, players who can overlook its technical and design flaws in exchange for the originality of its theme, picturesque atmosphere, and fresh folkloric settings will enjoy it the most.

A charming folklore adventure with heart, colour and creativity, held back only by a few rough edges. Manairons is a charming 2.5D adventure with lovely art, creative puzzles and a cosy folklore setting. The town of Vilamont is fun to explore, the bosses stand out and the flute melodies add personality. Some rough edges hold it back, like basic combat, tricky jump readability and a few performance issues, but it remains an enjoyable and imaginative little journey.

Manairons developers certainly aimed to deliver an enjoyable adventure, but this time they did not entirely succeed.

Manairons is one of the most classic platformers that doesn't try to innovate the genre, but still remains fascinating... shame about the countless bugs and total softlocks in the game that ruin everything.

After playing for a while, everything quickly feels repetitive. The graphics and backgrounds are still decent enough. But the gameplay could be a bit more engaging. You're constantly jumping around, occasionally tackling a puzzle or a fight, only to do the same thing in the next room. Of course, that's the basis of a 3D platformer, but still... I'm afraid this is a game that, despite its generally positive first impression, needs some work. The glitches, the less-than-captivating puzzles, and the subpar combat system are a serious letdown. Especially for a current price of €24.99, some adjustments should be made before it's worth the price.

Manairons becomes a short, atmospheric interactive tale: a dark folk‑tinged fable that sparks wonder even when its gameplay shows its seams. Nai’s flute is a clever idea, the bosses are charming, and the art direction gives real personality to an otherwise simple world. The rough edges in platforming, combat, and technical polish are noticeable but don’t undermine an experience that stays coherent and enjoyable within its modest scope. A small, sincere title that wins you over and proves how even tiny projects can tell stories that linger.

Overall, Manairons is a top-tier 3D action platformer game. If this is your genre, it is a must-play. Even if it isn’t your go-to genre, you won’t be disappointed. It’s all here: the beautiful graphics and the well put-together storyline combine to take you on a journey. Even after the frustrations of falling 20 times and getting back up and going again on the same puzzle, it really is an enjoyable experience and the true definition of a cozy game.

Overall, Manairons is a simple, unpretentious 3D platformer that’s quite enjoyable to play. It doesn’t reinvent the genre, nor does it try to, but it off...
