How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.
| Component | Positive | Quality (0-100) | Weight (pseudo-reviews) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Press reviews (OpenCritic) | – | 68 | 6 |
| All-time Steam reviews | 84% | 78 | 297 |
| Metacritic user ratings | – | – | 0 |
| Post-patch Steam reviews (trust-weighted) | 100% | 97 | 1 |
| Calibration prior (typical game) | – | 72 | 50 |

“The team over at Cococucumber should rest easily knowing they made something so vibrant and full of life. While it hits more than a few bumps towards its finale, Planet of the Eyes comes through the finish line as an excellent experience worth having. Almost like a short poem or brief jazz piece, it's an excellent way to spend an afternoon, feeling immersed in an experience that's truly one of a kind.”

“Despite its standard platforming interface, Planet of the Eyes makes for an enjoyable break from the daily grind of your current favourite title. With its colourful expression and quirky art design it manages to charm its way through start to finish, though its length means that it's over all too quickly.”

“This title is pretty and has decent platforming despite not pulling the player in or offering challenging puzzles. Simply put, it does as much right as it does wrong. It's short, but it doesn't overstay its welcome due to that. It's too easy, but it makes for a nice quick completion when you've got some extra time. Might not be a bad idea to wait for a sale and complete it in only a little bit more time than it takes to download.”

“Cococucumber's narrative driven platformer is an enjoyable experience, but suffers from its short length and lack of distinct gameplay features.”

“It is an experience that I enjoyed thoroughly, but it's very short and there is not much replay value. It has vibrant art style, controls well, has good pace and a great price.”

“Planet of the Eyes makes a solid, yet short platformer. Two hours of puzzles more and we'd have much better game.”

“Planet of the Eyes is the first step for a new developer and shows that there is a lot of potential in here. Some flaws make it inevitable to compare to other games, but the game is still worth it.”

“Overall, Planet of the Eyes is a decent platformer with a surprisingly enjoyable story. The world is sometimes too sparse, and the lack of challenge and short length will not satisfy hardcore platformer fans. However, if you are looking for a good sci-fi atmosphere and love some physics-based puzzles, you may want to give Planet of the Eyes a try.”

“Short and sweet, Planet of the Eyes guarantees an evening's worth of entertainment. It's not the most difficult puzzle platformer, but it provides enough of a challenge to stay satisfying as the player explores the mysterious world they've entered. Paired with some gorgeous artwork and solid writing, it's hard not to be won over by the time the credits roll.”
