Echoes of Mystralia is a delightful discovery in the indie gaming landscape. There are plenty of quality roguelites on the market, each with its own unique traits; the Borealys Games title stands out thanks to its spell-crafting system, which makes gameplay fun and, above all, capable of sparking players’ imaginations. The inspiration drawn from *Hades* is unmistakable and evident in various aspects of the game, ranging from exploration and combat to character design. At the time of writing, Echoes of Mystralia is still in development; however, it possesses all the foundations to become a cult hit within the “Hades-like” genre, which is why we are happy to support Borealys Games’ work with a decidedly positive verdict.

This roguelite delivers an addictive experience centered on a brilliant, free-form spell-crafting system that rewards deep experimentation. Combat feels intuitive and responsive, yet the gameplay loop occasionally suffers from repetition. While the narrative remains unfinished, the stunning orchestral score and vibrant art design create a compelling journey despite current content gaps.
