How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

“The ten-year wait for EA Sports College Football 25 has been worth it, with its all-encompassing Dynasty mode likely to prove an obsession for some football fans. Great gameplay paired with a deep spreadsheet simulator makes this one of the most fun and fresh sports games in eons, and it’s backed up by some stellar presentation, too. Ultimate Team feels superfluous, and Road to Glory could do with more time in the oven, but as far as comebacks go, this is one for the ages, even if it’s mere existence is likely to bemuse practically everyone outside of America.”

“I haven't had this much fun with video game football in years and years, and it's been cool to witness the unifying power of EA Sports College Football 25. It's been the runaway hit of the summer and has secured an immediate seat at the sports pop culture table. I was legitimately sad when this series dropped off years and years ago, and its return, even with its flaws, was cause for celebration. College Football 25 clearly understood the assignment. Now we'll see what happens next.”

“When the dust settles, College Football 25 is a great game and an excellent return for the franchise for EA. The development team absolutely knocked it out of the park, taking the time and care to craft something really special. While not perfect, the attention to detail put into this project shows on many levels. I would recommend the game for any football fan to jump into, as it has a little something for everyone at every skill level, even an old washed-up gamer like myself.”

“There’s no question College Football 25 is worth buying and a welcome return to the franchise. At times, you’ll find yourself picking apart defenses and scoring wildly entertaining touchdowns. On its worst day, you’ll be stuck in the menu for an hour trying to recruit a quarterback from Riverside, Calif., or studying for an upcoming exam (which is its own puzzle). The game is truly a combination of work hard, play harder, sounds a lot like college.”

“College Football 25 is exactly the return to the series that fans will have wanted. The gameplay is solid, and sets itself apart from Madden in a way that rewards dedicated players, and the Dynasty mode will alone will keep you engaged endlessly. A lack of depth in the other modes and some fiddly UI pull the experience down a bit, but never by enough to hinder what the game does best.”
