How this trust score was computed
Trust blends alignment (40%): does the outlet rank games the way players do; decoded accuracy (30%): after translating the outlet's own scale habits (a '7/10 means mediocre' scale is decoded, not punished), how well its reviews predict player sentiment; and player-side (30%): on games where press consensus and players sharply disagreed, whose side it took. Recent reviews weigh more (2-year half-life), and the blend is shrunk toward a neutral prior (60) so small samples can't peg the scale. Player quality is launch-window Steam sentiment, so outlets aren't punished for reviewing a launch build that later got patched.
Controversy record: on 325 games where press consensus and players sharply disagreed, this reviewer sided with players 88 times.

Outlet vs. players
Each dot is a game both this outlet and players scored. The dashed line is perfect agreement: dots above it mean the outlet was more generous than players, below it more harsh.

- 100Onimusha: Way of the SwordAug 31, 2026
“For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to be perfect for 10 seconds. Onimusha: Way of the Sword understands that desire. Each time I landed a perfectly timed Issen, pulled off a risky deflect, or landed a combo at just the right time, I felt like I had accomplished something. I had put myself to the test, and I’d succeeded. It’s a testament to Way of the Sword’s combat that I could beat it without using some of the systems designed to help you progress – not because you don’t need them, but because it leaves room for you to truly understand its action and overcome their absence through sheer determination. Even if I hadn’t intentionally made things harder for myself, though, I still would have loved spending time with Okuni, Takamura, Murasaki, Shizuka, and nearly all the denizens of this world. I still would have thought that Musashi himself is one of the coolest, most interesting protagonists in any video game, and I would have loved going on this journey with him. I still would have savored the creative fights against Ganryu and Benkei and a dozen others I won’t spoil here. My journey reflected Musashi's, and Onimusha made that possible. The best part of life is the challenge. You have to learn to love the fight.”

“The Blood of Dawnwalker is an impressive, bloody cocktail of interesting ideas and well-written characters, making it one of this year’s best open-world RPGs.”

“Onimusha: Way of the Sword is another win for Capcom. It’s a game with stellar combat that stumbles when it comes to its open-world design and side content. Luckily, when it's time to cross swords, this game is incredibly fun”

“The Blood of Dawnwalker has an interesting core, but it throws too many obstacles in your way before you can get to it. Rebel Wolves builds a rich universe with many stories worth discovering, but its clunky mechanics and various issues with its main systems are hard to ignore.”

“Onimusha: Way of the Sword is a frustrating experience that actively undermines its own potential. An often great game that overstays its welcome with enemies acting frustratingly passive for the most part.”

“Rest assured: The Blood of Dawnwalker is more than just "The Witcher with vampires." Rebel Wolves weave together proven action-RPG staples with an incredibly organic time-management mechanic and engaging, hybrid day-night gameplay. The result is a genuine RPG-gem; while it still has some technical kinks to iron out, in terms of both gameplay and narrative, it need not shy away from the genre’s heavyweights. I can hardly wait for a sequel already.”

“Onimusha: Way of the Sword marks a fascinating yet overly conservative return for Capcom's iconic franchise, starring the legendary Miyamoto Musashi. While boasting stunning cinematic direction, top-tier voice acting, and rock-solid technical performance on PS5, the game is held back by a passive AI, an overly permissive difficulty curve, and a combat system that pulls its punches. It's a solid, beautiful foundation for a series revival, though it ultimately lacks the necessary bite to truly master its craft.”

“Blood of Dawnwalker features a great setting, a brilliant dual gameplay loop, and satisfying combat in a world I want to see much more of.”

“Way of the Sword clearly aims to be a modern take on old-school Onimusha: dark, bloody, linear, and cinematic - and it absolutely succeeds. Rather than chasing open worlds and hundreds of hours of content, it focuses on a brilliantly designed combat system and dynamic, brutal encounters. And sometimes, that’s more than enough.”

“Onimusha: Way of the Sword masterfully revives the franchise with gameplay rich in mechanics and variety, full of boss battles that could make even FromSoftware fans envious. The story is like an incredible shonen anime. Musashi is a captivating and funny protagonist, accompanied by a cast of equally interesting supporting characters and antagonists who come together to create one of the best journeys Capcom has ever crafted.”

“With its easy-to-learn but challenging-to-master combat system, visually appealing art style, cast of highly chosen Marvel characters, and well-crafted and resented story, Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls could be the best Marvel-themed fighting game ever.”

“Gallipoli is the most beautiful game in the WW1 series yet, with excellent maps, fun new classes, and a continued focus on teamwork in order to win. The hard and dry landscapes of the Middle Eastern front are recreated with exquisite attention to detail, and the active player base of people taking it seriously enough to get the job done – but not so serious as to intimidate or scare off new players – is such a rare gem in modern gaming. It's those moments, though, when everyone is doing what needs to be done – whether it's laying down covering fire for an advance, or running from teammate to teammate healing their wounds as they dig in – that Gallipoli truly becomes a one-of-a-kind gaming experience.”
