How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

| Metacritic user ratings | – | 72 | 81 |
| Post-patch Steam reviews (trust-weighted) | 89% | 83 | 3000 |

“Ready or Not manages to make the difficult job of the SWAT team as close and realistic as possible, and more so than anyone has ever done before. If you've enjoyed the SWAT game series, don't hesitate to buy it. This worthy spiritual successor will delight not only the eyes but also the ears with its attention to detail. There will be slight flaws, such as the autonomy of your colleagues, but you can avoid these with your friends in cooperation. The accuracy of your enemies is also unbalanced, and the full version suffers from poor optimization. Aside from these birth pangs, this is a top-notch affair that shouldn't be missed, and not just by hardcore shooter enthusiasts.”

“Ready or Not is a fun and realistic tactical shooter with a wide variety of missions and locations. Despite a few shortcomings in the AI behavior of its opponents, it offers enjoyable and engaging opportunities to play with both bots and real partners. The game is still in its early stages, so we can expect some of these issues to be addressed in the future. However, Ready or Not can be a good choice if you want a realistic and full-fledged experience packed with strategy.”

“Ready or Not is not only a near-perfect video game, but one that advances the medium in a way that no game has before.”

“Ready or Not's core design, focused on cooperation and realism, makes it a must-have for those looking for something more cerebral and atmospheric within the shooter genre today. ”

“Ready or Not is more than just a game; it's a harrowing yet deeply satisfying journey into the unforgiving world of tactical law enforcement. Its meticulous detail, varied missions, and high replayability ensure that the "one more mission" feeling persists long after you've completed the main objectives. For anyone seeking a challenging, immersive, and genuinely impactful tactical shooter, Ready or Not stands as a resounding success on consoles.”

“Ready or Not is a remarkable yet hollow achievement that should have aspired to be more than it ended up being: fun and flawed in equal measure.”

“Ready or Not is a unique cooperative shooter. It's not casual fun in the way Helldivers 2 can be. That means it certainly won't be for everyone, and the solo experience doesn't hold a light to playing with friends for us. However, those elements mixed in with a harrowing and outright disturbing tone make Ready or Not one of the most immersive co-op experiences available on PS5 right now.”

“There's no doubt that Ready or Not is one of the most immersive experiences of 2023. The definitive version of this title developed by VOID Interactive offers realistic gameplay, with a wealth of equipment at our disposal. The missions are varied, while the art direction is completely immersive, especially when played in cooperation with friends. While the artificial intelligence of some opponents still needs fine-tuning, this is a complete game that will keep you busy for hours on end. Nevertheless, I'd recommend playing it with colleagues to get the ultimate experience the developers are aiming for.”

“Kicking the door down and ordering everyone to freeze or hit the dirt; is there a more exciting and fulfilling aspect of crime fighting? There are precious few games of this type, and S.W.A.T. 4 was probably the last great one. But now, after almost two decades, Ready or Not is here to upset the status quo.”

“Ready or Not scratches a tactical shooter itch that the gaming world forgot they had - a one-game genre revival.”

“Few games can compare to the unsparing and ferocious intensity that permeates through every part of Ready or Not's gameplay or presentation. The more controversial themes and imagery will likely be as stomach churning for some as the often times inconsistent AI and multiplayer experiences. Yet I still found myself returning to duty to bring order to the chaos. Ready or Not is a tough and unforgiving game, but one that's simultaneously rewarding and stressfully evoking.”

“Voice chat issues aside, Ready or Not really captured our imagination, and even when you get taken down in a mission, the spectator mode is almost as thrilling due to the tension in-game, as you will your team mates to make it through. There’s a grittiness to Ready or Not that bleeds through all aspects of the game and make it a serious contender in the world of online co-op tactical action titles, with the narrative thread also making it a recommendation if you intend on playing in single player mode, and if you are really keen on it, there is already a load of DLC to devour. Good!”
