How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.
| Component | Positive | Quality (0-100) | Weight (pseudo-reviews) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Press reviews (OpenCritic) | – | 50 | 11 |
| All-time Steam reviews | 69% | 66 | 668 |
| Metacritic user ratings | – | – | 0 |
| Post-patch Steam reviews (trust-weighted) | 81% | 75 | 3 |
| Calibration prior (typical game) | – | 72 | 50 |

“Food Truck Simulator stands or falls, in this case, falls, on its overall unpolished gameplay, which unfortunately contains major flaws and unfinished elements. These make the game nothing more than an average title that probably won’t appeal to many people. We certainly don’t expect it to be as successful as DRAGO Entertainment’s Gas Station Simulator was. If you’re looking for a better cooking simulator, check out Chef Life: A Restaurant Simulator, which is ten euros more expensive but, in many ways, much higher quality. As for us at Gaming Professors, Food Truck Simulator gets five out of ten points.”

“While the concept isn’t a bad one, and elements of the execution make sense, it leaves a bad taste in the mouth”

“There are some good ideas in play here, but Food Truck Simulator gets many of its basic elements wrong to the point where the game becomes a repetitive pain to play.”

“Food Truck Simulator shows potential, but there is work still needed to be done here.”

“Food Truck Simulator is incredibly, unbelievably janky. It doesn’t feel good to play with a controller, and I can’t speak on how it might feel to play with a mouse and keyboard since I played on Xbox (yes, yes, PC master race). Though, looking at the reviews of it on Steam, I don’t think I was missing out on a much better experience.”

“Like Gas Station Simulator before it, Food Truck Simulator could benefit from a little more polish. And, also like Gas Station Simulator, you’re paying money to pretend to have a job. But expanding your little business and being the best Food Truck Guy, shaving seconds off each time you fry, never gets old. As mundane as its premise may seem, Food Truck Simulator is a real joy.”

“Went wrong somewhere along the line. The original idea might have promise, but in practice it has failed. Threatens to be interesting sometimes, but rarely.”

“New game from the developers of Gas Station Simulator seemed very promising but in reality resembles an underbaked pizza littered with absolutely everything the cook found in the fridge. It’s a shame the developers failed to filter out poor ideas and unnecessary elements and polish the game properly, because it could’ve been really good. ”

“Glitchy and laboured, operating this pretend catering van feels too much like hard work”

“The most fun part is serving customers and preparing their orders and could have done without anything else. The game is riddled with glitches, preparing food comes with a lot of inconvenience, and the graphics are severely out of date. Food Truck Simulator serves up a lot of potential but falls short on the order.”

“Having already analyzed different simulation games, I have to say that Food Truck Simulator is one of those that have incredible potential. The game proposal is quite pleasant and fun, leaving a bad taste in our mouths when we have to face the technical and "basic" problems that the game has. As I have mentioned, the technical problems are serious, which is not only related to its port to consoles, but is something specific to the game in its development for PC. These problems ruin the experience, giving the feeling of "cheap play", becoming something you don't even want to touch because of the problems it has.”

“Overall it's like many simulation games in that if you get in to it… you can find yourself somewhat zoning out to it and it can be a lot of fun. But it can also cause a lot of stress if you just can't find your rhythm. Ultimately, not without fault… but a decent bit of fun can be had and for a reasonable price too.”
