How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

| Metacritic user ratings | – | – | 0 |
| Post-patch Steam reviews (trust-weighted) | 93% | 88 | 2167 |

“SpiderHeck is a ton of fun. It’s fast and chaotic and is an excellent choice if you’ve nothing to play and want a both visually stunning and unique brawler for the Nintendo Switch. It’s a heck more fun when you’re up against a friend beside you, but the single player mode is more than enough to sharpen your skills and put up an enjoyable challenge.”

“SpiderHeck is a highly entertaining game that combines elements of PvP and platforming. The colorful array of weapons will captivate you even more once you realize you can combine them with your spider abilities. The game can keep you entertained for hours, and its excellent graphics and controls make it even more appealing. Using almost every piece of equipment is fun, and with the map’s layout, you can create some very creative combinations. So if you’re thinking about buying it or looking for an alternative multiplayer game, we definitely recommend SpiderHeck. Even if you don’t have a group to play with, we still recommend it just for the creators’ brilliant idea of letting you play as such incredible creatures.”

“If you have people to play it with, SpiderHeck is an absolute must-play and a game you should be checking out right now. Even for solo players, though, I think there’s enough to keep you entertained for the . For me, SpiderHeck is the surprise of 2022 and is so good that I can overlook the arachnids crawling around in it.”

“SpiderHeck can absolutely bring out the competitive spirit in people. But its natural charm lies in providing laughs when the chaos lets loose and somebody swings right into a laser sword or accidentally blows up a chunk of the map. It would benefit from a bit more variety in game modes and content, but as it stands it offers a fun and unique spin on the couch brawler genre.”

“SpiderHeck is a pretty cool multiplayer to spend hours on end locally. The absence of online participants is a little frustrating, and the single-player content is challenging enough, but a little tiring. Still, it's good to leave this title prepared for weekend afternoons.”

“Spiderheck joins the meaty list of indie highlights of 2022 for me. Whilst the visuals may look fairly basic, the cascade of carnage from the neon lighting from laser guns, light sabres and explosions compliment an enthralling and compelling gameplay loop. Despite myself and my four-year-old son being absolutely petrified of spiders in real life, we had a blast playing this together for hours.”

“SpiderHeck is one of the most enjoyable local multiplayer games I’ve played in a very long time. This game takes elements from beloved games such as Smash Bros., Worms, and N+ to combine into a wild experience that was both exciting and humourous. There were times when we would burst out laughing at the insanity on screen. SpiderHeck would make a perfect addition to any game night, especially when playing locally. There are a couple of issues that I’d love to see addressed. I should be able to sign all local players into their own accounts, but this isn’t the case. I wish there were a few more customization options for difficulty and accessibility. And I’d love the ability to create my own arenas. Despite these minor issues, SpiderHeck is absolutely brilliant. Grab some friends and play it as soon as possible.”
