How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.
| Component | Positive | Quality (0-100) | Weight (pseudo-reviews) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Press reviews (OpenCritic) | – | 63 | 11 |
| All-time Steam reviews | 72% | 69 | 1000 |
| Metacritic user ratings | – | – | 0 |
| Post-patch Steam reviews (trust-weighted) | 55% | 56 | 3 |
| Calibration prior (typical game) | – | 72 | 50 |

“The developers promised some changes, which they actually added to the title. However, some of the new features of the game are not what I expected. The freedom to move around the city is certainly a great improvement, but some of the missions could have been made more interesting and fun. So I give the second installment a 7/10 again, as the creators didn't disappoint me with this title, but they didn't impress me either.”

“While the original YouTubers Life was certainly novel there was just something about it that felt more one-dimensional to me overall so it didn’t quite click for me...”

“There is a lot to see and do here, and the fact that you can now play as a variety YouTuber, as opposed to be restricted to a single career, adds diversity to your day-to-day activities. But once you wrap your head around the flow and formula of the foray, it all becomes a bit of a grind. Perhaps there’s some meta-commentary from the developer here: that chasing trends for fame is less glamorous than it looks.”

“Youtubers Life 2 is a deeper experience than the first game and is a solid new addition to the life simulation genre. There is plenty to do to keep you busy while trying to rise through the Youtuber ranks but to me it got a bit repetitive.”

“The foundation of YouTubers Life 2 is pretty surprisingly solid. However, there are some issues that made the overall experience less enjoyable for me. I really regret that this title was not better tailored for the power level of the Switch console; considering how smoothly some other big titles like Animal Crossing can play on it, it was a big letdown. That being said, the game was fun and worth playing. It had quite a lot to do and is definitely worth the price tag.”

“Youtubers Life 2 is an excellent leap forward from its predecessor which introduces much more interaction with the world and with our work as content creators, in an optimal formula that generates a good experience with the title.”

“While the open-world transition was a welcomed concept it wasn’t utilized to the best of its ability. YouTubers Life 2 is exactly what it is. A YouTuber simulator. A constant grind to fame. Day in and day out it’s the same thing only a different trend than yesterday. It’s the smaller things that give this game life while the major elements such as the story end up lacking in the end.”

“YouTuber’s Life 2 is quite evidently a step up from the previous game, most notably with the glossy open world map and unique characters. Unfortunately, the drawbacks in the form of poor tutorials and questionable mechanics such as the energy system left me trying to grapple with the controls and understand the game more than anything else. These issues completely sapped my motivation to keep playing, and there’s no telling whether it will improve by increasing the subscriber count even more. Oh well, at least I got to hang out with Jeff Goldblum.”

“Overall I enjoyed playing Youtubers Life 2 quite a bit. The setting was fun and entertaining and I found the gameplay mechanics to be straightforward, especially when done often. The loose story was engaging and I enjoyed the use of social media, streaming, etc beyond simply recording videos. There were some glitches forcing me to restart the game that soured it for me a little. It looks and sounds great and if you like lifestyle simulators, I have no doubt that Youtubers Life 2 will be your cup of tea. I give Youtubers Live 2 the Thumb Culture Silver Award.”

“There’s an audience for YouTubers Life 2, certainly, but due to a series of odd choices, it’s not the same audience that fell in love with YouTubers Life. With the freedom of running around town comes the restriction of what videos you can actually make for your channel, which will frustrate those coming from its predecessor. If you’re in high school, love farming sims, and haven’t played the first title, this could very well be your next gaming obsession; for everyone else, be sure to like, subscribe, and check back later when the bugs have been fleshed out.”

“You've got a lot of possibilities in Youtuber's Life 2 but real content and value is missing. Creating the videos seems like an mandatory side matter.”

“Youtubers Life 2 turns out to be a sequel that tries to be more and better than the original, but in the end it is only more. To the errors of the first are added some new ones, resulting in a title that will bore after a few hours.”
