How this score was computed

The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

If you ask me whether RIDE 5 is worth buying or not, I’d say (as usual): it depends. If you played all previous games in the series, and still can’t get enough after the last installment, then the answer must be positive. It’s the RIDE you know and love, just more refined than the last time around.

The new RIDE 5 builds successfully on its 2020 predecessor and offers several major improvements, such as the return of split-screen mode and the implementation of dynamically changing weather. There have also been minor changes to the driving and physics models, and of course to the visuals, which, despite the progress made, unfortunately still fall short in some respects. What also bothers me about RIDE 5 is the odd artificial intelligence and the lack of racing modes, whose frequent repetition can feel a bit repetitive in career mode. Even so, we can recommend RIDE 5 with a clear conscience to all fans of racing simulations. From us at Gaming Professors, the game earns seven out of ten points.

“Ride 5” is a great game for motorcycle enthusiasts, but Milestone still can’t find a good spot between realism and a more arcade approach. Most of its “innovations” will be seen and felt for those who dedicate their time to it. If you’re not willing to take part in 20 minutes+ races, then “Ride 3” is still your best option.

Although Ride 5 is simply an improvement on the previous title it manages to keep the level of quality, variety and realism high.

RIDE 5 sets the bar for motorbike simulation on a console in the same way that Gran Turismo 7 does for cars. In my view,  GT7 is this game's nearest neighbour, and that is good company.  The level of detail present here is admirable, not just in the high-quality visuals for the bikes and environments but also in the detail, the little things like the handling, the options available to tweak your experience and the like. It's clear a significant amount of effort, care and love has gone into RIDE 5, this is not everybody's cup of tea by a long shot, but this is an impressive title nonetheless.

Expected by many players after three years of waiting, Ride 5 may well disappoint with its low risk taking and its too great similarity to its predecessor.

Ride 5 is a game that prides itself on its authentic portrayal of motorcycle racing. Much like real racing, you’re going to have to get some time on the track and really practice to steal first place from your competitors. This isn’t a problem, as each ride feels fun to control, with scenic tracks and intuitive mechanics that make it very forgiving to make a mistake. Just make sure you break out your controller if you’re playing this game on PC.

Motorbike racing fans will no doubt enjoy the bulk of what RIDE 5 offers. It's an improvement visually with excellent haptic feedback for PS5 players, and quality racing simulations. However, it may be a bit harder to convince newcomers or players content with RIDE 4 to spend their hard-earned dollars on RIDE 5 without a more expansive or engaging career mode. RIDE 5 lacks the push in great modern sports games to create more value for the fans behind simply simulating the sport.

RIDE 5 is an excellent motorbike racing simulator which, despite offering few new features and a smaller amount of content than its predecessor, is still really fun and enjoyable.

RIDE 5 is as polished as they come with improvements in every way over its previous instalments, and the addition of a split screen mode is a brilliant feature! The learning curve may be steep but the gameplay is rich and rewarding for those with the stamina and patience to master the courses and each bike's respective handling.

Ride 5 is an exhilarating ride, forgive the redundancy, once again a terrific motorcycle racing game for experts who are ready to throw away all the riding aids and dive deep into the raw and unforgiving experience. Casuals and arcade enthusiasts will have a difficult time finding the right spot to enjoy it and may not be pleased with the middle ground that it offers. Skilled players, on the other hand, should seriously reflect if it’s worth purchasing the new release given the few major improvements. Those who give in are bound to enjoy the multiplayer thrills and expansive career events, but be wary of the blatant AI limitations, still the weaker link in otherwise exciting bike races.

Overall, Ride 5 is a stunningly realistic approach to motorcycle racing simulations. It features immersive graphics and physics that can cause races to be simultaneously challenging and rewarding, while also providing some rider aids to help those who are struggling with the difficulty. The depth of content that is available with the various game modes will allow people to spend countless hours racing and playing around in their virtual garage decorating and tweaking their bikes. Anyone who is a fan of racing, particularly motorcycle racing, should absolutely give Ride 5 a try.
