How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

“What begins as a cleverly written, darkly humorous dive into Geralt's political nightmares quickly devolves into a frustrating chore. Reigns: The Witcher suffocates its brilliant narrative premise under a forced, clunky arcade combat system and an exhausting reliance on trial-and-error grinding. It's an amusing, short-lived novelty for die-hard fans of the franchise, but it completely strips away the agile, minimalist charm that made the original Reigns so addictive.”

“You probably know already if you fit within the Venn diagram of Reigns fans who also love the world of The Witcher. Outside of the hit-or-miss combat, Nerial hasn’t exactly revolutionised its patented Reigns formula with Reigns: The Witcher, but it also doesn’t really need to. The trademark swipey narrative puzzle gameplay suits The Witcher very well, with its focus on moral choices and dark sense of humour. I had a good amount of fun with Reigns: The Witcher. If you’re a fan of The Witcher or enjoyed the previous Reigns games and want to see a twist on the formula, so might you.”

“Reigns: The Witcher is a fun and addictive mix of The Witcher's dark fantasy and the simple, swipe-based Reigns mechanics. It doesn't stray far from the series formula, so longtime fans will feel right at home. Quick decisions can lead to life, death, or chaos, and while the gameplay can feel repetitive at times, the variety of characters and outcomes keeps it engaging. Perfect for short sessions on mobile, though not particularly innovative.”

“If you want a game that isn’t as time-consuming as the Witcher games, Reigns: The Witcher is a good experience. If you’re looking to rekindle your love for The Witcher, then this game is an obvious choice. It doesn’t reinvent the wheel, nor does it try to. Instead, it captures the essence of the Witcher world and successfully condenses it into a new, more accessible experience. As Geralt once said, “Time eats away at memories, distorts them. Sometimes we only remember the good. Sometimes only the bad.” So make sure you remember the good and leave the bad behind.”

“Reigns: The Witcher is another solid entry in the series that fans of the signature gameplay of Reigns and The Witcher lore will enjoy. The dark humor and dedication to the lore are a step above the rest, while the addition of “quests” to guide how you interact with the story is wonderful. However, it still feels a little stale. ”

“Reigns: The Witcher is superbly well-written, and masterfully integrated into the world and lore of Andrzej Sapkowski and CD Projekt Red’s works. It doesn’t feel like a cheap cashgrab. On the contrary, you can clearly see that Devolver, CDPR and Nerial worked together in order to come up with an engaging random story simulator that feels right at home in this world full of liars, deceivers, and terrible outcomes for everyone.”
