How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

“Taking a somewhat kitchen sink approach to pumping up a classic side-scrolling action adventure”

“Makis Adventure is a solo-developed game that really shows how much care and effort can go into a title. Though it was a two-hour adventure, I loved every minute, and can't wait for future Zoroarts projects.”

“Maki’s Adventure isn’t perfect, but it’s brimming with charm and ambition. From its inventive shark mechanics to its side-quest-driven exploration, it offers more depth than many games twice its size. Technical hiccups and underwhelming boss design hold it back slightly, but these are forgivable in light of its creativity and heart. For those seeking a short, satisfying indie title that blends nostalgia with originality. Take your time to explore, and don’t forget those side quests; you might discover that it makes all the difference. Maki’s Adventure gets another Thumb Culture Gold Award”

“Though the developer himself has expressed disappointment in its reception, they should still be incredibly proud of what they've accomplished largely by themselves.”

“I would have preferred to go without the frustrating bossfights, but apart from that, Makis Adventure is a well-crafted indie game with a great atmosphere and lots and lots of attention to detail.”

“It may not be king of the ocean, but Makis Adventure has teeth, personality, and enough good ideas to offer a couple of original afternoons.”

“With varied gameplay in its minigames and alternating perspectives, Makis Adventure is a pleasant and entertaining first game from a solo developer, but it doesn't reach its potential and ends just when it could have deepened its good ideas. The three-hour running time is worth it for those curious and enthusiasts of compact adventures with metroidvania elements.”

“Makis Adventure is certainly that… an adventure. During its course you’ll encounter curious characters, formidable foes, precious puzzles and mellow moments all standing in the way of your goal. Sadly, a dull combat system and barren hub world, are a deadly duo leaving this title enjoyable, with potential greatness hiding inside.”

“Makis Adventure is the inaugural project from a young solo-developer and honestly, it plays as such. The love for the project pours from every pixel, but from a pure gaming perspective, it’s a little all over the map. Essentially, this is a small collection of mini-games held together by a rudimentary story and basic cast of characters, created by a passionate dev looking to test a variety of skills for the first time. Makis Adventure is limited in what it offers to a player, but can act as a stepping stone for Zoroarts to create bigger, more polished projects in the future, and we wish Matteo Covic all the best as he continues his journey through game development!”
