How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.
| Component | Positive | Quality (0-100) | Weight (pseudo-reviews) |

| Creator reviews (1 tracked) | – | 85 | 0 |
| All-time Steam reviews | 94% | 89 | 1000 |
| Metacritic user ratings | – | 87 | 12 |
| Post-patch Steam reviews (trust-weighted) | 97% | 92 | 14 |
| Calibration prior (typical game) | – | 72 | 50 |

“Michael Ancel and Ubisoft have created an excellent and highly addictive arcade game. Rayman makes a great first impression due to a diversified gameplay and a truly artistic visual style. It has a unique atmosphere that quickly affects the player - the feeling of being part of a crazy adventure where everything depends on us is constant.”

“Rayman Origins is the best 2D platformer this year, one of my favourite ever made (it's up there with Yoshi's Island), and the one game out in November everyone should play. I don't care if you've got other games to play, this one will make you feel good inside. ”

“Though far from perfect and using some very standard gameplay mechanics, Rayman Origins is easily one of the best family-friendly games in years.”

“Rayman Origins is a beautiful looking platformer with a wide variety of levels, but is marred slightly by a handful of pacing issues.”

“Rayman Origins is a breath of fresh, colourful air to the industry that sadly I think will go largely ignored by the masses. Ubisoft and Michel Ancel have managed to craft something that has clearly had a lot of love and effort gone into it, both presentation wise and gameplay wise. ”

“While there have, and there will continue to be, complaints about not being able to play online and with other people in Rayman Origins, I feel as though this game is best left as an experience between friends and just want to mess around with odd characters in an even stranger, yet beautifully made, world.”

“Rayman Origins is further proof that even in 2011, expertly crafted 2D platformers still have a rightful place in any gamer's collection.”
