How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.
| Component | Positive | Quality (0-100) | Weight (pseudo-reviews) |

| All-time Steam reviews | 71% | 68 | 673 |
| Metacritic user ratings | – | 77 | 52 |
| Post-patch Steam reviews (trust-weighted) | 75% | 70 | 761 |

“There were so many twists and turns during the three-hour story that I couldn’t even keep up. The heartbreaking plot of Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons Remake draws you in right from the start, and you won’t want to take your eyes off the game. You’ll even find yourself wishing it weren’t over. However, the game’s magical atmosphere is marred by bugs, which the developers will hopefully fix over time. The game’s unique controls remain, and it’ll take you a while to get used to the chaos again. If you haven’t played the original game, the remake is a great opportunity to make up for that. And if you’ve played it before, you can enjoy a nostalgic journey accompanied by modern visuals.”

“Brothers ticks all of the same boxes of its 2013 predecessor, with the same powerful story beats, simple control system and stunning upgraded graphics, but fans of the original will be left mourning what could have been if more had been added to its luscious and varied world.”

“Brothers is a good remake of an overlooked gem of the 7th generation of consoles, boasting a graphical overhaul that completely transforms some of the areas, and some new little secrets make it worth the play for both new and old players alike, that said, some technical problems were a bummer.”

“Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons Remake offers a modern take on a video game classic. Although the changes are few and far between, Avantgarden Games has shown great respect for the original game. The use of the new graphics engine makes it even easier to immerse yourself in this touching story, while marvelling at the scenery. The adventure remains fairly short, but the retail price is far from excessive. I particularly recommend the game for those who didn't have the chance to play it back then, or for those who wish to repeat the experience in co-op.”

“Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons Remake is a solid retread that occasionally gets in its own way. The graphical and musical overhauls are spectacular, and the emotional heft of the story is intact, but the industry has left the title behind in a lot of ways. The control scheme is still pretty unique, and a rousing success in single-player, but the co-op mode comes with an asterisk. While it's a welcome accessibility inclusion, it fundamentally alters the experience, and not really for the better. Throw in some technical woes and you're left with a remake that doesn't quite feel up to snuff in a modern setting. However, the core game was incredible for its time, and ultimately remains a moving tale in this refreshed version.”

“Brothers is already a very nice game in the original as well. If you're looking for a straight-forward, simple drama story that you can put aside and want to see it with polished and great graphics, this remake is perfect for you. If you haven't heard of the game before and haven't played it, this remake is a great excuse to taste this adventure.”

“Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons Remake can't be said to have necessarily convinced us of its usefulness as a release, but it remains a great experience that should not be missed by any gamer or video game enthusiast, because these are the stories that take the medium one step further and make it stand out from other genres.”

“Brothers: a Tale of Two Sons is a very beautiful game, and it has its own magic that makes you immersed in the experience, and all of this in a story that is only two hours long. As for the remake, it does not offer anything significant other than the dazzling graphic level, or the presence of a cooperative play mode, so this is The experience is not encouraging if you want huge changes, but it is suitable for anyone who did not play the older version.”
