How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

“If I had to sum up this unconventional installment, I’d have to say I’m thrilled. The game is entertaining, whether it’s the conversations between characters or the tactical battles. I’m not a Persona expert, I’m personally more familiar with the Disgaea series, so tactical battles weren’t entirely new to me. I can say that even complete beginners can handle it without any problems on the lower difficulty settings. The game isn’t very long; it’ll take you around thirty hours to finish. Plus, the music is the icing on the cake. The only things I’d criticize about this title are the limited variety of enemies (the fact that they just change their outfits doesn’t count as variety) and the price of the game. It definitely could be a euro or so cheaper.”

“Persona 5 Tactica is a thrillingly varied tactical RPG that fans of the Phantom Thieves and the genre should take note of. It's a little on the easy side, but the varied gameplay, excellent soundtrack, striking visuals, and lovable characters all make for a very easy recommendation here.”

“Persona 5 Tactica is another great spin-off with a great alternative take on the story and exciting strategy gameplay.”

“Persona 5 Tactica offers a captivating tale in a really cute world. The game is solid in every aspect, but the battle system and the soundscape are undoubtedly where the game shines brightest. The simpler mechanics may be initially dismaying for veterans of the series, but they fit the game nicely once the player gets used to them.”

“Persona 5 Tactica has a fun and dynamic gameplay loop, and a story with potential but all that ends up undermined by repetition and an excessive amount of dialogue that has little to no substance.”

“Persona 5 Tactica is a lesser version of Xcom or Mario Rabbids, lacking in both depth and variety, with a huge amount of dialogue that hurts the pacing and fluidity of an otherwise good story. At the end of the day, the greatest selling point are its beautiful cast of character and great style, even in this brand new deformed approach”

“Minor spin-off of Persona 5 that does not do justice to the original game, it is entertaining and affordable for all audiences, but it lacks more variety of phases, more challenging levels and a more important use of Personas.”

“Persona 5 Tactica is a fun spinoff game but perhaps it's time for Atlus to finally retire anything related to Joker and the Phantom Thieves. The teat has been milked dry. Only dust is coming out now.”

“Persona 5 Tactica is a game that offers tricky battles, an intriguing story and the comeback of beloved characters, which makes it a must-have for any Persona 5 fans. While there is a lack of exploration and some of the dialogue can become tedious, it is fundamentally a beautiful little title that is well worth playing.”

“Persona 5 Tactica's stylish, addictive gameplay and delightful chibi characters almost make up for the fact that the Persona 5 brand is starting to wear itself thin.”

“While die-hard Phantom Thieves will enjoy stepping into the Metaverse once again - as slick, stylish, and cool as it ever was - Persona 5 Tactica lacks variety, momentum, and challenge. Its key issue lies in a fatal lack of mechanical balance, resulting in an endearing but unsatisfying strategy experience.”
