How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

“Short-lived thought it may be, We Were Here Expeditions: The FriendShip is nothing short of tremendous. The puzzles are tricky enough to pose a challenge, but are cleverly enough designed so that any stress you feel is aimed firmly towards your partner and not the game itself! Boasting the same playful visuals, excellent voice-acting and engaging gameplay as We Were Here Forever, The FriendShip marks a stellar maiden voyage for Total Mayhem Games’ Expeditions series, and will undoubtedly win over a boatload of new fans.”

“A minor gripe would be that the content is a little short, but as this is intended to be another episode for the series, it's not a serious gripe. A nice taster without being a waste of time, a great introduction to social games without the pressure of eight-player ability fuelled mayhem, and an enjoyable adventure for experienced thinkers and friends alike. Plus, pirates! Try it.”

“With a new storyline and new tweaks to the series’ co-op gameplay, We Were Here Expeditions: The FriendShip is an excellent start to this multi-part franchise installment.”

“For die-hard fans, We Were Here Expeditions: The FriendShip feels like coming home. Compared to the larger Forever, developer Total Mayhem has pulled the handbrake and opted for a smaller-scale adventure in which you can easily reach the finish line in one evening. But due to the nice variation in puzzles, small innovations in game elements and reasonable but satisfying replay value, The FriendShip will certainly ensure that you will not soon forget that evening, at least until the next Expeditions adventure is ready.”

“We Were Here Expeditions: The FriendShip is a fun excursion for people who find the We Were Here series quite challenging. The puzzles are more accessible and you get just as much fun out of them. It's easy to complete in an afternoon and you can keep playing the puzzles until you get gold. An additional advantage is that We Were Here Expeditions: The FriendShip is also free for a month. So what are you waiting for?”

“We Were Here: FriendShip is a great game for those players who like puzzles, escape rooms and the like. If you have a friend, family member or companion available for this adventure, it will certainly be a very well spent hour in which your neurons will have to work to the fullest. A real test of your friendship.”

“We Were Here Expeditions: The FriendShip serves as a spin-off from the main series, presenting an experience that can be completed in a single evening. This two-hour adventure encompasses three meticulously crafted puzzles that intricately rely on cooperation between two players. A noteworthy addition is the introduction of a commendable achievement system, which, ideally, will find its way into the main series too. Whether obtained for free, making it an irresistible experience, or acquired at the cost of a full-price movie ticket, The FriendShip undoubtedly delivers substantial value and engaging content.”

“The only problem is we still want more! Don't get me wrong, I'm always grateful to see a new deeply cooperative game release as, as mentioned, they are often few and far between, but the We Were Here games are special.”

“While a great addition to the We Were Here Series, Expeditions: The FriendShip is not likely to blow your mind. If you are ok with a slower-paced, purely puzzle-based game that runs on the shorter side when you have an hour or two to kill with your friend online, this is a worthy title to look at. It's also a great way to introduce yourself into the series as a whole and help you decide if you want to sink your teeth into one of the other, longer, games. While I do personally prefer couch co-op, this is one title I'm sure to get back into time and time again for my online co-op needs, which are more and more common these days.”

“We Were Here Expeditions: The FriendShip is a pleasant experience which, despite its duration, allows you to spend a couple of hours carefree with a friend. If you have a partner with whom you get along, don't think twice and invest the few Euros needed to literally embark on this adventure; you might enjoy it.”

“While it’s worth going through once, don’t expect it to reach the highs of the previous entries or offer too much new to the winning formula.”
