How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.
| Component | Positive | Quality (0-100) | Weight (pseudo-reviews) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Press reviews (OpenCritic) | – | 79 | 3 |
| All-time Steam reviews | 92% | 86 | 399 |
| Metacritic user ratings | – | – | 0 |
| Post-patch Steam reviews (trust-weighted) | 100% | 97 | 0 |
| Calibration prior (typical game) | – | 72 | 50 |

“While there's no doubt that people will be quick to see Cannon Brawl sharing some gameplay similarities with the Worms series I'll go even older school and say that initially it reminded me greatly of the vintage Scorched Earth (though everyone I knew just called it Scorch)...”

“Highly addictive and packed with personality, Cannon Brawl targets a specific niche being a merger of real-time strategy, funds balancing, and Tower Defence, and will undoubtedly be worth the investment not only for fans of those genres, but newcomers to it as well.”

“When the conditions are right, Cannon Brawl is an enjoyable take on artillery games that offers fast-paced strategic fun. That fun only lasts so long though, and I don't think this will be the next game for you and your friends to huddle around the TV and play for hours on-end.”

“Cannon Brawl is pure pick-up and play bliss. It quickly draws you in with its straightforward control scheme and simple objective. But with the varied tools at your disposal, the game offers a rewarding space to experiment and, most importantly, enjoy that process. Some plans worked out surprisingly well for me, and others fell destructively flat. Either way, I never found myself bored or frustrated. Every session I spent on Cannon Brawl felt entertaining. Whether you want to enjoy the game alone or with a friend, I can not recommend Cannon Brawl enough. It’s a game that shoots for the stars and absolutely meets those heights.”

“Cannon Brawl is a fantastic mix of resource management, farming and fighting. I particularly liked the frantic race to gain supplies to outgun your foes. I would normally have looked the other way with this kind of game, but I had an incredibly good time playing this and the hours just flew away whilst I was completely absorbed.”

“I had a lot of fun writing my Cannon Brawl review. I had heard that the game was very addictive and highly entertaining, but I never expected it would grab my attention so much. I’ll be going back to the game as I aim to someday have that Platinum trophy in my collection. This will be my “go-to” game to have some extra fun between reviews.”

“Surprisingly fun, accessible, intuitive and addictive, Cannon Brawl brings polished gameplay, good visuals and enough modes to please those who already know and like real-time strategy games, and even for novices who have always been looking for a good entry into this world.”

“And most importantly for all you trophy hunters out there, this one includes a full trophy count with a Platinum trophy! You will need to play the game at least twice, once in normal mode and once in Nightmare mode, to have a chance. I’ve been at it for a long time both while writing my Cannon Brawl review and after that, so you definitely have a challenge ahead of you!”

“While not a deep adventure, Cannon Brawl presents a good mix of real-time strategy and artillery, both in its solo campaign and in multiplayer mode. Within what it proposes, the title is fun and offers good hours of unpretentious matches, but it also manages to be intense, with many cannons, explosions and fights within an unusual monarchic family.”

“For newcomers to the RTS genre, Cannon Brawl is a great introduction which really shows off the strengths of the genre. It really doesn’t take a lot of learning for a novice player to start making strategic decisions, and to understand basic concepts crucial to the genre such as efficiency, macromanagement and aggressive/defensive styles of play. While the strategic depth isn’t as much as other titles, the simplification results in Cannon Brawl being wickedly accessible and a blast to play for all ages.”
