How this score was computed

The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

My Little Universe is an adventure game in which you explore 9 different planets to restore them back to their original environments by collecting materials and expanding resources. You can upgrade your tools, fight monsters, and discover new materials in this casual tycoon-like game.

While there’s a mesmerizing flow to the grind perhaps, there’s mechanically not much happening here

Quite simplistic, My Little Universe offers a refreshing experience with a unique concept and art direction. The game is very accessible and easy to understand, while the exploration of the planets makes you want to continue playing without stopping. The main drawback is the feeling of repetition that can be felt after several hours of play, and which may discourage some players. However, if you don't mind this element, you'll be overwhelmed by this survival adventure like no other. There's no doubt that this is an ideal game if you're looking for some mindless fun.

I’ve had a blast with My Little Universe; it is a cosy worldbuilding collect-a-thon. It urges the player to explore further and discover what is on the next hex. My Little Universe is a wholesome, relaxing game for those who want the thrill of exploring and collecting infinite resources. Suitable for all ages in the family, it also has a very addictive gameplay loop and watching Orangey go to work and swing his tools is brilliant; I wish I had his energy!

My Little Universe is a game that you can put a lot of hours into. After dozens of hours, I'm not even halfway through. It's a game where you don't have to do or think much. You are constantly collecting materials and the makers have managed to make collecting and returning these materials a very enjoyable experience. It's not a game about fighting or building a settlement. You unlock a new hexagonal box every time. If you are looking for a game where you can spend some (or a lot) of time on the go without any difficulties, then My Little Universe is highly recommended.

If you want to turn your brain off and play a game in the background while you’re doing something else that requires more of your attention, I could see why you might be interested in My Little Universe. It’s a game that seems tailor-made for turning on and ignoring it even as you play, like a slightly more demanding clicker game.

My Little Universe surprised me with its addictive gameplay loop to the point I kept coming back for more until I finished it. Whilst the game is never particularly challenging, you do feel a sense of progression as you dive deeper into each area. I put a little over 20 hours into the game, so there is plenty of content here if you want to achieve 100%. Whilst I couldn’t seem to get hands on with my Lenovo Legion Go alongside my Xbox Series X, I am looking forward to playing again in handheld mode. The game should be Xbox Play Anywhere on launch, so those with PC/Handheld devices should be able to get their fix.
