How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.
| Component | Positive | Quality (0-100) | Weight (pseudo-reviews) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Press reviews (Metacritic) | – | 74 | 25 |
| All-time Steam reviews | 84% | 78 | 1000 |
| Metacritic user ratings | – | – | 0 |
| Post-patch Steam reviews (trust-weighted) | 79% | 74 | 662 |
| Calibration prior (typical game) | – | 72 | 50 |

“All in all, is God of Weapons worth it? Absolutely! For five euros, you get a game that offers quick half-hour play sessions with nice 3D graphics. With twelve distinct characters, each with three additional variants, you get an enormous amount of content, and your curiosity will keep you coming back for more. You’ll switch between characters, adjust your strategy, and change up your starting weapons and other gear. Plus, the game is so simple that it’ll win over absolutely everyone.”

“God of Weapons doesn't offer much, but what it does offer is enough to help pass the time.”

“God of Weapons may not be as refined as Vampire Survivors to knock them off their perch as the best rogue-like survival game. But I think it does plenty to provide a fun alternative. I like the variety of characters, unlockables and objectives as it keeps the game fresh and interesting. It’s very easy to pick and play, and not difficult to master.”

“God of Weapons is a gem in the auto-battler genre. It does not revolutionise the rules, but reinterprets them with intelligence, originality and a style all its own. The combination of inventory management, unlockable classes and tactical synergies makes each run unique and potentially addictive. With a few targeted updates, including more interesting bosses, more varied environments and new challenges, Archmage Labs' effort could easily aspire to cult status. But as it is, it is a must for those who love optimisation, experimentation and that irresistible feeling of “one more game and then I quit”.”

“Overall, the game is simple in audio, visuals, and gameplay. But it has a difficult underbelly when it comes to levelling up and managing your inventory. It comes at a good price and serves as a decent time killer, but it feels more like a mobile-style game.”

“The blend of Survivors-like gameplay and puzzle-like inventory management makes God of Weapons stand out but it's still rather flat overall. ⚔️”
