How this score was computed

The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

Aimed primarily at fans of the franchise, Invincible VS is a rather enjoyable fighting game for playing against friends. It’s accessible, so it’s easy to pick up and immediately fun, especially for fans of gory fighting games where you just need to hammer away at the controller to get by. However, its lacklustre single-player content and its combo system, which leaves room for improvement and ultimately feels repetitive, prevent it from becoming a must-have in the genre.

For fans of Invincible, this is an easy recommendation. For fighting game fans, it’s absolutely worth paying attention to. It may not reach the heights of the genre’s biggest legends just yet, but it lands one hell of a first impression.

Invincible VS is an excellent fighting title with solid foundations and a low skill floor for newcomers, while also offering a high skill ceiling for those willing to become...invincible.

Invincible VS delivers battles that feel worthy of the franchise’s most brutal moments. Its accessible gameplay makes chaotic, blood-soaked fights easy for anyone to jump into, while still capturing the over-the-top violence fans expect. However, it also suffers from one of the genre’s biggest issues: prioritizing multiplayer over solo content. As a result, the story mode barely lasts more than an hour.

Invincible VS is heavy on fighting game mechanics and fun factor, thanks to its solid tag mechanics and varied cast. However, its single-player modes and other replayable bits, apart from online and local play, leave a lot to be desired.

Invincible VS would have been a great fighting game if a little more time had been spent on its story mode. Still, if you’ve got people to battle online, there’s no better reason to step into this superhero arena.

The game's story is also engaging and full of fascinating details, but it's very short and can be considered a lighthearted episode that you can watch in one sitting

Overall, I loved playing Invincible VS. It's something fans of the IP will likely get a kick out of for a few hours, despite the disappointing length of story mode, and those deep in the trenches of fighting games likely trying to come up with the most degenerate strats you could conceive. If Quarter Up can build on the early excitement shown by both the FGC and the casual Invincible audience, they might have a big hit in their hands, one I hope they aim to improve and make a more complete experience in a fighting game market that's surprisingly starting to feel a bit overcrowded.

Highly recommended if you enjoyed Killer Instinct (2013) or tag fighting games and are a fan of the franchise. But if you're expecting a good offline experience, I'd say you should reconsider.

Invincible VS is a well-crafted product with fun, immediate, and technical gameplay. The main criticisms are the very rough animations and the lack of content. The story mode turned out to be more interesting than expected.

Invincible VS is a strong, feature-complete fighter that gets the fundamentals right and delivers a genuinely fun moment-to-moment experience. It is approachable on the surface, but there is more depth once you start digging into its defensive systems, and it stays consistently flashy in a way that makes even casual matches feel good to play. That said, it is still a bit rough around the edges, with some balance quirks and inconsistent visual clarity keeping it from feeling fully polished. As a first outing, it feels confident, aggressive, and fun in a very immediate way, with enough depth for both casual and competitive players to stick with it as it evolves.
