How this score was computed

The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

The metagame-like hero motivation game feels fun, but lukewarm.

A follower of the classic real-time strategy game Majesty, which has a unique approach to hero management, successfully embarks on adventurous quests to which you are invited.

There’s nothing inherently wrong with Lessaria: Fantasy Kingdom Sim, but there’s nothing overly exciting either.

Lessaria a confident, solid, and respectful successor, perfect for a leisurely immersion. Rockbee Team studio's debut can be considered a success - they took a responsible approach to a complex genre and created a game that, despite all the minor rough edges, is capable of giving dozens of hours of fun, nostalgic and tactically rich experience.

I’ve always liked games like Majesty, and Lessaria is meant to be the successor for those games. And honestly, I think it’s an excellent game in that regard. Not only does it manage to take the core fantasy kingdom simulation gameplay, but it adds its own twists, great buildings and a wonderful hero system. I am a huge fan of the combat system, which is refreshing, especially considering the fact that you can also join heroes in combat. Or you can just be passive and guide them, without being involved in combat yourself. The game’s story is very interesting, I felt involved in the overarching quest, and the game continued to impress with each mission. However, the primary focus is on the gameplay, and you can see that. It’s very polished, beginner-friendly, without being boring. And considering the genre, doing this is certainly a tall order. But Lessaria manages to succeed here, and they do that with flying colors. It’s definitely a must-play for anyone that likes strategy games, but honestly, it’s a good pickup for any cozy gamer that doesn’t mind a bit of combat as well.

Lessaria captures the spirit of Majesty, providing autonomy to its real-time strategy units. While the hands-off approach to adventurer control is a worthwhile concept, uneven combat and occasional tedium remind you that even fantasy kingdoms can have faults.
