How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.
| Component | Positive | Quality (0-100) | Weight (pseudo-reviews) |

| Press reviews (OpenCritic) | – | 75 | 133 |
| All-time Steam reviews | 84% | 78 | 1000 |
| Metacritic user ratings | – | 79 | 88 |
| Post-patch Steam reviews (trust-weighted) | 83% | 76 | 300 |

“Aspyr has done an excellent job preserving three of the most important, and timeless, examples of early 3D gaming. Tomb Raider I-III Remastered may largely be a greatest hits set for existing fans, but it’s a comprehensive bundle whose new visuals and updated control schemes are nice options to introduce the original series to the uninitiated.”

“Tomb Raider I-III Remastered Starring Lara Croft does just enough with the original Tomb Raider games to make them a great fit for the Nintendo Switch. The ability to instantly flip between the original and remastered graphics is entertaining, but the real fun lies with the games themselves. And these are the three best Tomb Raiders ever made.”

“Tomb Raider I-III Remastered ups everything across the board, but not without some lingering issues.”

“There is no doubt that the original Tomb Raider trilogy was a masterpiece in its own time, and everyone, including me, loved playing them on our older systems. However, compared to what sort of remasters we have been getting in the past, Tomb Raider I, III Remastered caters to hardcore fans of the franchise instead of trying to pull in new players. It is very difficult for modern players to get accustomed to these dated mechanics, and while the visuals and modern controls do provide some respite to the troubles of the original, they still fall short in a lot of ways, which makes this a tough choice to recommend. If you played and loved the original games, you will want to jump back into them to experience the trilogy with modern visuals. However, if you started gaming with modern Tomb Raider titles, you may want to steer clear of them because you may end up hating them.”

“Although Tomb Raider Remastered does a phenomenal job at updating the original titles' graphics, it doesn't improve their abysmal controls or dated gameplay. ”

“Tomb Raider I-III Remastered is one of Aspyr's most accomplished projects to date, successfully giving three of gaming's most iconic titles a much-needed lick of paint while upgrading the controls to give newcomers a welcome leg-up. Some of the lighting is a bit off with the new visuals, and the need to manually save your game is a big no-no in 2024, but if you're curious as to how Lara Croft got her start in gaming, then this is easily the best way to experience the original trilogy.”

“In an era where nostalgia hits harder than ever, Tomb Raider I-III Remastered nails that throwback feeling beautifully a must-play for nostalgia lovers.”

“Tomb Raider I-III Remastered is undoubtedly one of the best remasters, unreservedly throwing new players into challenges remembered only by older generations of gamers. It certainly feels like a fine nostalgic blow to the wallet or a tool for veteran gamers to educate their protégés, proudly saying, "This is how we played back in my day," while kids tease them for being ancient relics or for building the pyramids Lara Croft explores.”

“Whether you are exploring these games for the very first time and just want to see what all the hype is about, or you’re a veteran player who’s ready to be hauled back to the 90’s, nostalgia goggles in hand, ready to reminisce on a time when gaming was a little simpler, anyone who’s a self-proclaimed gamer should try this series at least once, and Aspyr have made this Tomb Raider Remastered collection the definitive way to do so.”

“While it will undoubtedly give fans of the originals all the feels, removing nostalgia it absolutely has issues both old and new”

“Minor technical issues and frustrations aside, Tomb Raider I-III Remastered is genuinely one of the most faithful and well-executed remasters I’ve seen in a very long time, an exceptionally potent nostalgia trip and a fresh experience all at once.”

“A gift to fans of Lara Croft's retro beginnings, Tomb Raider: I-III Remastered Starring Lara Croft is a masterfully beautified collection of the first three games, plus their extra chapters. It does what all remasters of super old-school classics should do, providing the whole experience, practically unchanged, but in a brand new coat of paint that offers quite the sight, without ruining the magic of the original. Whether most will like the titles included is a different matter altogether, because, while pretty good, they are far from flawless, but as far as upgrades go, this is one of the best of the bunch.”
