How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.
| Component | Positive | Quality (0-100) | Weight (pseudo-reviews) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Press reviews (OpenCritic) | – | 74 | 3 |
| All-time Steam reviews | 95% | 90 | 855 |
| Metacritic user ratings | – | – | 0 |
| Post-patch Steam reviews (trust-weighted) | 100% | 97 | 1 |
| Calibration prior (typical game) | – | 72 | 50 |
Acclaim gate: the raw blend lands at 89.0, but scores above 88 must be earned in front of a mass audience; this verdict rests on 1,715 player reviews, a largely self-selected fanbase. As more players weigh in, the ceiling rises (full scale unlocks at 100,000 reviews).

“Grim Legends: The Forsaken Bride clicked with me pretty easily. The game’s puzzles gave my brain a nice workout without ever becoming too complicated. While this release might not be for everyone, there’s definitely a large enough group of you out there that is going to love this release! Aside from the improvements needed on cut-scenes and voice acting, Artifex Mundi is doing a good job with these PS4 adventure releases.”

“Games like Grim Legends seem to resonate more toward those that own tablets, PC’s and smartphones. Not that I believe it doesn’t belong on consoles, it just seemed like a chore to play with buttons and analog instead of a touch or click option.”

“Grim Legends The Forsaken Bride suffers from poorly written dialogue. The artwork is richly detailed, and it's the saving grace of the experience”

“The palatable fantasy-based story, gorgeous hand-painted still locations and good balance of fun, albeit easy, puzzle types may not be everybody’s cup of tea but those willing to give it a taste may find themselves being pleasantly surprised.”

“The overall low difficulty of the puzzles, the short game time, and the stuttering cutscenes may be a huge turn off for many. However, if they give Grim Legends a try, they will find a game that visually is very enjoyable. I found problem solving in the game to be worthwhile and incredibly fulfilling.”

“Overall, I had plenty of fun with my time searching for Lilly and uncovering the mysteries of the village. This game does enough right to be worthy of playing. It’s not too long to outstay its welcome, even if you decide to 100% it, and there’s value to be had should you decide to take the plunge and find out the oddities of the land for yourself.”

“Another great title from Artifex Mundi which sets the bar really, really high. The best game from this developer on PlayStation 4. And most important - game is priced perfectly.”

“If you’re a puzzle fan this game will be right up your street. If you like fantasy/fairytale games & stories you should definitely consider giving this a go. If, like me, you’re a fan of both then you’ll have double the fun if you decide this is a game you can’t go without playing any longer.”

“Adventure fans shouldn't pass up the chance of another easy completion even if it involves two playthroughs instead of one. For those who don't normally play this type of game, Grim Legends, or any Artifex Mundi game for that matter, continues to be a great starting point for their entry into the genre.”

“This point and click games excels in its art style and different puzzles. However, the difficulty of the puzzles and the voice acting is not as good as to be hoped for.”

“Artifex Mundi has created a worthwhile experience with Grim Legends: The Forsaken Bride that any player can appreciate. The Forsaken Bride utilizes new gameplay mechanics and derives off the path of the usual hidden object game-type.”

“All in all, I have had a blast playing Grim Legends: The Foresaken Bride. Once I completed the main game, I unlocked an extra story which was certainly a pleasant surprise! There's plenty to do in this game and lots of puzzles to solve, not to mention that being able to play the dominoes game instead of the hidden objects puzzles will make it so that anyone can enjoy the game's story and setting. I'm sure being able to skip puzzles is also a big plus for some of you, but you'll have to remember you'll lock yourself out of the Platinum trophy and will need to do a second run if you want it.”
