How this score was computed

The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

Escape Simulator 2 is another winning set of fun rooms with a promising future for much, much more, bolstered by major improvements. It’s a great time experienced solo, but especially some of the best multiplayer puzzling around.

Escape Simulator 2 shows how fun it is to solve problems in their most basic form. You can play Escape Simulator 2 by yourself or with a bunch of other people yelling, “Try the red key again!” Escape Simulator 2 keeps you interested the whole time. It is one of the most rewarding puzzle games I’ve played in recent years because it strikes a good mix between logic, style, and ease of use.

Escape Simulator 2 doesn’t carry over the visual charm of its predecessor, but that doesn’t mean it’s bad. As a stand-alone game, removed from the first, it’s a solid experience. Each room feels like it was designed with a lot of care, and all of the puzzles are unique. Unfortunately, Escape Simulator 2 doesn’t feel like it was designed with co-op in mind, despite boasting the ability to play with up to 8 players. With a lack of content at launch, all the puzzle rooms can be completed in around 10 hours, though player-designed rooms and DLC are sure to come with time. Hopefully, future content will be geared more towards a more refined multiplayer experience.

Escape Simulator 2 is a great sequel and an easy recommendation for puzzle game and escape room aficionados. There's some rough edges, but the environments are great, the puzzles satisfying, it's fun to share with others, and there's bags of potential for DLC and fan creations.

As a player, you enter much larger and more mature rooms in Escape Simulator 2 than in part one. You get fifteen rooms divided over three themes and you can tackle them alone or with eight players at the same time, which often results in fun chaos. Thanks to the new Room Editor 2.0, endless new content continues to be added and DLCs are already planned. However, you do have to take into account bugs that sometimes make puzzles frustrating.

Escape Simulator 2 is a masterclass in digital puzzle design, refining its predecessor's tactile joy into a more sophisticated and visually stunning experience. With significantly improved physics, ingenious room layouts, and the powerhouse that is Room Editor 2.0, it offers an endless playground for solo thinkers and co-op teams alike. While occasional physics hiccups and sharp difficulty spikes remain, it stands as the definitive first-person escape room simulator on the market.

Overall, the current price tag isn’t too steep, the atmosphere is excellent, but alongside the solo mode, the cooperative mode carries far more weight, the gameplay clearly leans toward solving the puzzles together.

Escape Simulator 2 is a charming co-op puzzler packed with atmosphere, clever challenges, and endless community content. Some bugs and rough matchmaking hold it back, but for 17 bucks, it’s a surprisingly rich escape room experience, especially with friends you don’t mind yelling at.

Escape Simulator 2 is the perfect sequel: it feels familiar yet very ambitious. It improves on the original's formula, makes it bigger, and adds more depth to the puzzles without making them harder to solve. The game is now a full package for both puzzle fans and casual explorers. It has larger maps, cooperative play for up to 8 players, and a better level editor.

Featuring 12 levels over three distinct themes, Escape Simulator 2 has plenty of content at launch, with every level being brilliantly designed and filled with clever, challenging puzzles. For those who want more, there's a level designer and the option to play community-created levels, so there's potentially endless content here. A bargain for £14.99/$19.99.
