How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

“Thank You For Your Application has something worthwhile to say, but says it in the least engaging way possible.”

“Thank You For Your Application constructs the dystopia of Aeropolis City through highly entertaining satire. However, the tone is at times too light-hearted, which detracts from the immersive experience. The gameplay is very strong in the first part of the game, but becomes rather sluggish towards the end, where there is very little in the way of new content. Furthermore, the job interviews feel more like the border checks in Papers, Please than genuine candidate assessments, and we would have appreciated a deeper exploration of the selection mechanics that are already present but limited to brief special sections.”

“A narrative-driven simulation where you screen job applicants and decide their fate. Set in a dystopian city built on inequality and social hierarchy, the game challenges players with difficult choices between ambition and conscience. Though relatively short, its sharp social commentary and emotional impact leave a lasting impression.”

“Thank You For Your Application is a gritty, dystopian sim that turns job hunting into a soul-crushing roguelike. You play as a cold-hearted interviewer whose own humanity fades as you reject desperate candidates to survive. It is a brilliant, bitter critique of capitalism, though the mid-game pace feels like a chore.”

“Thank You For Your Application turns corporate dread into a brilliant, high-stakes puzzle. Despite punishing quest failures, its intense mechanics and dark narrative make it a gripping thriller.”

“Thank You for Your Application, from developer Ice Lemon Tea Studio, is a cognitively engaging 2D logical deduction gameplay experience that is simple on the surface but complicated underneath.”

“Thank You For Your Application is stressful fun. It will demand your attention at all times, despite its seemingly cozy nature. Quest-frustration aside, it is easy to recommend for those who love games that make 'work' fun.”
