How this score was computed

The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

F1 25 definitely represents a significant step in the right direction. Codemasters listened to the fans and delivered a more challenging and realistic simulation. The result is a game that rewards patience and skill, while also drawing players in with its dramatic story and new challenges.

F1 25 is probably the best edition of F1 to date. It features rich and revamped My Team mode with remarkable depth, as well as the much loved continuation of the Breaking Point story mode that often reaches movie-like quality. It still suffers from occasional handling issues and live-service features that might ruin the experience in some modes, but it is rich with content and its presentation is remarkable.

It’s a pity that ditching last generation of consoles did not manifest a substantial leap in quality (that many hoped for). Fortunately F1 25 is a better game than F1 24 in every way, with big emphasis on an improved driving model and path tracing on PCs. Still, a real revolution should arrive in the 2026 season.

EA SPORTS F1 25 is the kind of game that ultimately gets a lot more right than it gets wrong. And honestly, when it gets it right, it gets it right. The return of Braking Point, for example, with more narrative and strategic decisions, is an excellent addition to the game.

EA Sports F1 25 is overall another rock solid entry in the annual franchise. The driving is reliably good fun and impressively flexible, and the return of Braking Point is a welcome one, even if it's not the best story ever told. A robust set of modes means there's something for everyone, and it looks and sounds great on the whole. One or two career mode changes might ruffle some feathers, and navigating the game can feel slow, but by and large it's a podium finish for this F1 racer.

EA Sports F1 25 is much better than last year's installment, and Codemasters addressed key points to ensure its fans weren't disappointed. Braking Point 3 and My Team 2.0 are high-quality offerings that warrant recommending the game to fans of the competition and those looking to immerse themselves in its world. The handling improvements, despite their rough edges that will surely be addressed in future updates, are a decent sim cadence, as is the audio-visual section. Despite the less than favorable environment, this is a good F1 installment, and it will undoubtedly hold its own throughout the season.

F1 25 is the best game in the series to come out in recent years. This year, it really feels like a ‘complete package.

It's always difficult for developers to make a very good game even better, which is why it's clear that the improvements in EA Sports F1 25 compared to its predecessor are in the details. The most obvious improvements are, of course, the new, thoroughly successful edition of “Braking Point,” which once again shines with its outstanding presentation, and the revamped My Team mode, which now offers even more possibilities and also turns up the heat a bit in terms of presentation. The reverse-designed tracks and the sticker editor are also appealing and round out the overall package. Added to this is a largely outstanding graphic display, which is actually even a touch prettier than last year. The driving experience was already really good and could hardly be improved upon, and the same applies to the overall very well-designed career mode. In the end, it remains to be said that F1 25 is a first-class racing game that brings some useful innovations and additions, making last year's overall package even more attractive. Whether the improvements are enough for owners of last year's edition to treat themselves to the latest edition is ultimately up to each individual to decide.

F1 25, despite its flaws - which are largely a legacy from previous titles - brings improvements that help to make the sport more accurate.

F1 25 is once again an excellent driving game, but at the same time provides very modest evolution from previous installments. Braking Point storymode is fun but short lived appetite like always. My Team, Career Mode and F1 World can offer nearly endless hours worth of content for hardcore F1 enthustiasts, if their stomachs aren't already full from previous years.

F1 25 is a fine racing game, worthy of the queen class of motorsports. But as you often see with sports games, not that much changes from year to year. So do you already have a version from, say, 2024 or 2023? Unless you really care about being able to race against newcomers like Kimi Antonelli, or necessarily want to see Lewis Hamilton shine for his new patron Ferrari, feel free to skip this one. Next year, quite a few rules of play are changing in Formula One, and hopefully it will also inspire Codemasters to innovate a bit more. Because just as an F1 team must constantly innovate to keep up, standing still here equals going backwards.

F1 25 isn’t bad, in fact, it’s pretty good if you like management modes, but if you want a big improvement in every way, you might want to wait for a sale or the next big step forward.
