How this score was computed

The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

Bendy: Lone Wolf is a perfect dive into the Ink Demon’s lair. With so much to discover and a lot of fun to be had for those of you who are fans of the franchise and a great wee stealth-type game for newcomers as well.

Lone Wolf makes players care about Buddy Boris’s situation, giving them an experience that is both exciting and emotional. People who like survival horror, especially those who are interested in the Bendy world, will get lost in the Ink World and have to look for things, hide, and hope they can get out one more time.

Bendy: Lone Wolf successfully upgrades its predecessor in visuals, atmosphere, and small quality-of-life tweaks, but it doesn’t reinvent itself. Short bursts of play keep its stealth and exploration sharp, while its modest runtime and price make it an easy pickup for returning fans. It won’t shake the formula enough to win over skeptics, but for those already drawn to Joey Drew’s world, it’s another satisfying trip into the dark.

Bendy: Lone Wolf doesn’t offer enough to stand out in the 2025 horror scene. In fact, it feels outdated compared to some PS1 games. New horror games should push the genre forward and innovate on what has come before, not take us backwards. This game has all the ingredients needed to be great: a unique art style, an intriguing world and skilled developers with the vision to create something special. However, as it stands now, it’s just a new addition to the Bendy IP, albeit a newfangled one.

Bendy: Lone Wolf is a title that lives in a balance between the old and the new. Despite being a truly intriguing title, the sense of déjà vu is strongly present from Boris and the Dark Survival.

Bendy: Lone Wolf is a well-executed survival game that recognizes its advantages but doesn't go beyond them. You would like this if you enjoyed Boris and the Dark Survival. This remaster won't convince you if you weren't already.

Bendy: Lone Wolf doesn't revolutionize the genre, but it does offer a polished take on Boris and the Dark Survival with tangible improvements to its graphics, sound, and gameplay. Despite limited combat and the predictable AI repetition, the dark atmosphere, replayability, and excellent sound design make it a worthwhile survival experience. For fans of the series, it's a rich addition to the world, while newcomers will find themselves in for a dark adventure that leaves a unique visual and audio impact.

All in all, I think the game is a great choice for those who love survival-horror games, although you should be prepared to die and repeat levels countless times. But it’s all a part of the experience, and realistically, I wouldn’t have it any other way. Thumbs up for a very solid experience that proves you can still do a good game in an oversaturated genre.

The ‘Bendy’ franchise has always thrived on its mixture of vintage cartoon aesthetics and psychological horror, and ‘Bendy: Lone Wolf’ takes that formula into darker, more personal territory. Where previous entries leaned heavily on exploration and puzzle-solving, Lone Wolf emphasises survival mechanics, isolation, and the slow unravelling of one character’s psyche.
