How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

“The Sims 25th Birthday Bundle is a nostalgic blast to the past that gives newer players the chance to explore more options beyond the third game, as well as offers older players the opportunity to relive their childhood. Compared to the conveniences of modern entries, some of the older titles might feel frustrating to navigate. It’s almost like a metaphor for real life.”

“All in all, both Legacy collections are an eye-opening reminder that we once got far more bang for our buck with older Sims titles. While the two re-releases aren’t perfect in terms of bugs, missing content and a few technical quirks, both games remain as fun as they ever were and the benefit of having new, legal ways to purchase them on modern digital game store-fronts cannot be understated. I really hope EA pays attention to fan feedback to these re-releases and learns some lessons from the past to improve the value of future patches, content and technical enhancements.”

“The Sims Legacy Collections is exactly as you remember the games, chaos, bugs, glitches and all. The Sims 1 and 2 are iconic for a reason and are still just as entertaining 25 years later as the day they came out. For the true Sims lover who can accept a few crashes, they are definitely worth playing for the nostalgic feeling, even though the technical state of both games is not optimal.”
