How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

“CloverPit is brutal, brilliant, and dangerously addictive. It takes a mechanic most people dismiss as pure chance and transforms it into a tense, tactical rogue-lite. Every spin is a gamble, every run a story of desperation, and every victory a hard-fought act of defiance against a system designed to crush you. It’s not perfect, sometimes the randomness feels cruel, sometimes the escalating debts feel impossible. But that’s the point. CloverPit doesn’t want you to win easily. It wants you to fight, claw, and cheat your way through. And in doing so, it delivers one of the most unique and unsettling indie experiences of 2025.”

“CloverPit is an exceptionally interesting title. On the one hand, it offers a lot of content, solid replayability, and can be much more addictive than we might expect. On the other hand, no matter how hard we try to strategize, the gameplay is practically always the same, which makes it terribly tedious and repetitive at times. Still, it's hard to put down. CloverPit has something about it that constantly encourages you to keep coming back and trying again.”

“Cloverpit is simple and straight to the point. It is both its greatest strength and weakness. Panik Arcade does a good job of creating atmosphere and an interesting narrative, but the lack of agency due to the nature of slot machines makes it a game that’s a bit too repetitive for its own good.”

“The latest in what has seemed to be a string of gambling roguelikes, all seeming to be looking to grab some of the success of Balatro, CloverPit is fair, but ultimately feels limited”

“All in all, Cloverpit is a staple in any roguelike, gambling or even horror player's library. The game sells itself when you see someone play it, and it holds the “Just one more run” feeling harder than I’ve seen in most games. If you get it, though, remember to bet on the sevens. They are lucky! Happy spinning!”

“CloverPit is yet another game that pulls at the gambling itch and morphs it into a literal death game where you must win big or die trying. Quoted as a “demonic lovechild of Balatro and Buckshot Roulette,” you are locked away in a cell, forced to rely on a slot machine for life. Pay off your ever-rising debt or fall into the never-ending depths.”

“CloverPit does what it does well. It’s very clear how much inspiration Panik Arcade has taken from Balatro and Buckshot Roulette, but it’s taken bits and pieces and created its own unique identity. The low-poly art style lends itself very well to creating an eerie atmosphere, and taking the time to put together charm combinations is fun and incredibly satisfying when it pays off. Though the rougelike element and pure RNG might be frustrating at times, and the simple gameplay loop can feel repetitive, taking what you’ve learned from a previous run and seeing it pay off in another feels very rewarding.”

“CloverPit is a fun luck-based rogue-lite that requires strategies and careful planning to be able to beat. It is easy to pick up, and the quick attempts make for a fast and fun experience that many can enjoy. If you enjoy rogue-lite style games, I would recommend giving it a try, to see if you can get out of a hell of your own making.”

“It’s not for everyone, but if you’re the kind of player who enjoys digging into systems and mastering the chaos, CloverPit will have you hooked. However, just like a real casino, remember the house always wins. This house will just kill you when you lose.”

“Like any good slot machine, this game’s a gamble, fun if you’re here for quick spins and rogue-lite flair, but don’t expect to hit the jackpot if you’re chasing a story, because while there is one, you're better off just staying at the slots and making that number go up.”

“CloverPit will literally drag you down a dark, deep, and remorseful metaphorical hole. The game is insatiably addictive, and before you know it, you will naturally push your luck. The eerie atmosphere and mysterious story are the cherries on top. Though the roguelike mechanics are not groundbreaking, they function as expected and will leave you always longing for just one more run. That, in essence, is the hallmark of a great roguelike.”
