How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.
| Component | Positive | Quality (0-100) | Weight (pseudo-reviews) |

| Metacritic user ratings | – | – | 0 |
| Post-patch Steam reviews (trust-weighted) | 94% | 88 | 6 |

“Despite its obvious age and some questionable elements, Gorn remains one of the most entertaining virtual reality fighting games and a significant chapter in the history of VR gaming. Its conceptual simplicity is more of a strength than a weakness. Gorn is physically exhausting, but mentally, it’s more relaxing than almost any other game.”

“GORN is an easy recommendation for those who value fun gameplay and the ability to kill enemies in creative ways above everything else.”

“Gorn puts you in the boots of a powerful gladiator and gives you everything you need to let loose on hapless opponents. When it's at its best, this is a satisfying PSVR experience, offering up truly physical and cathartic action with over-the-top violence. Sadly, it does run into some problems, such as iffy movement and motion tracking problems. There's plenty to like about this OTT title, but without these sticking points it could've been a real PSVR champion.”

“Gorn has aged reasonably well. Sure, there are bigger and prettier games available, but few of them match the almost cathartic and brutal fun that Gorn so innately delivers. It works well enough in PSVR to warrant a purchase if you're OK with its limitations. The controls are frustrating and more limited on PSVR than elsewhere, and visuals are clearly a step down, but the core experience is still intact. If that fits the bill for you, it can be a blast, so ready your fist and blade and enter the arena. Just don't lose a limb.”

“There’s fun to be had here, especially if you’ve had a shit day at work and want to chop the limbs off some lumbering fools for fifteen minutes.”

“Gorn is exactly what it looks like; it's silly, over the top, and hilarious. This isn't a serious melee combat game, but if you're after comic ultra-violence, then this is the best option on PSVR. With a little more content, some gameplay beyond battling waves of enemies, and a touch more polish, this would be an easy recommendation, but it's still worth a shot if you want a bit of a giggle.”

“Gorn is challenging, horrifying, hilarious, and a genuine joy to play. It manages to be brilliant in both short bursts and long sessions, and there are so many little challenges to complete and weapons to master that you'll never really be able to put it down for good. ”

“It’s a great party game, if you have friends around that want to experience VR for the first time, but if you’re looking for a true blue immersive experience, I can’t say you will find it here. Is it a great “one-timer”? Absolutely. It’s a ton of fun, that you will love for hours. However, it’s only for hours. GORN is a great VR experience.”

“Still though, for a mindless gladiator brawler with lots of cartoon violence it can be a lot of fun. You just may need to be aware of what all it has before you go in expecting too much.”

“If Gorn was released on PlayStation VR 3 years ago, it could have been considered a good game. But water has flowed under the bridge, the PSVR now a catalog of solid games and Gorn looks very pale next to others. A fun concept doesn't make a big game...”

“Admittedly, these wouldn't be my first choices in mobility and VR viewing controls, but in the absence of analogue sticks, it's perfectly functional.”

“GORN achieves its goal. At the end of the day, if you want to just tear people apart like some sort of demon, rip off limbs one by one, or beat someone to death with someone else's severed head, GORN can provide you those experiences from the safety of your home.”
