The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

    “I have to say that Mr. Prepper is a pleasant and very fresh surprise for me. Even though I played the prologue, I was smilingly engrossed in the game, which has been given many new items and options. Mr. Prepper is a relaxing and relaxing game that will give your brain cells a nice workout, but at the same time give you a break from action shooters or chases. It should be mentioned that there are rumors of more escape options being added in the future. In addition, the developers are very active and communicate with the community on Steam discussions and Discord channel.”

    “Mr. Prepper fulfils the bunker survival simulator competently. The personal Cold War I was having with the way it controls and the treaties I wanted to break for it being so pedantic, even on the Switch, left a lot to be desired however. If this genre is of interest and you own a Switch you may be able to enjoy what it has to offer, warts and all.”

    “Despite having one of the more interesting premises in the past couple years, Mr. Prepper feels like a failure on almost every level due to the plague of bugs that result in this feeling like one of the most broken games I have ever played, at least on the Xbox family.”

    “Mr. Prepper has decent graphics, a fun throughline for a story, and really opens up in terms of actions the further on you go. Yet it’s the needing to do it in such a limited window, both for the auto-save countdown and the lack of mouse, that keep it from being something that I’d come back to time and again. I might consider picking it up on the computer in the future, but I don’t think anyone should be playing it on the Switch. It’s just not what the burgeoning prepper deserves.”

    “Mr. Prepper might be a fun game on PC, but it's very frustrating on Nintendo Switch. Although the title has some very interesting construction and management elements, the positive points end up being overshadowed by the excess of menus, uninspired graphics and a terrible control cursor.”
