How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.
| Component | Positive | Quality (0-100) | Weight (pseudo-reviews) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Press reviews (OpenCritic) | – | 69 | 5 |
| All-time Steam reviews | 87% | 81 | 700 |
| Metacritic user ratings | – | – | 0 |
| Post-patch Steam reviews (trust-weighted) | 100% | 97 | 0 |
| Calibration prior (typical game) | – | 72 | 50 |

“While graphics and performance are flawless, Undead Horde has repetitive and routine gameplay that can't save it from its potential. The art style is amazing, so it is unfortunate it has to be ruined by mediocre gameplay. I'd say if you are looking for a game like Undead Horde, the best bet is saving up for the Diablo 3: Eternal Collection on Nintendo Switch.”

“While I wouldn’t say Undead Horde is a revelation of any kind it does scratch a middle-of-the-road strategy itch and there aren’t many titles on the Switch like it...”

“Undead Horde is an action RPG blended into an Overlord/Pikmin-style management game where your horde of resurrected enemies deal the bulk of your damage and have to be continually replaced with freshly-fallen foes as they suffer a final death. The gameplay difficulty, then, arises from poor party configurations that lead to your numbers being overrun faster than they can finish off enemies, ensuring that your numbers continually thin until you’re all alone against a group of enemies.”

“Undead Horde achieves some of its aspirations, but not in a way that is likely to leave a lasting impression on you.”

“Undead Horde may not be the most beautiful or impressive game in the market, but it surely is as fun as hell, difficult at times, but silly in others.”

“Undead Horde is a fun game that succeeds in putting you in place of a Necromancer. The Gameplay mechanics make you feel like a real necromancer, and variety in different units that you can reanimate and RPG elements improve the overall experience of the player. The game has some technical graphical problems and may feel boring after some time, especially on the console/pc version, but, it is a good game that worth spending extra time on.”

“I really enjoyed my time with this quirky little game. It does not overstay it’s welcome and was fun from start to finish. It’s a nice mix of different genres and I especially enjoyed raising an undead army and using them to quell my foes. The game has a nice steady stream of unlocks and new features to experience. Managing your undead army is fun, rewarding and combat does have some strategy and tactical nuances.”

“Overall, I found Undead Horde to be a very fun experience. The game has a decent level of difficulty to it and I can only imagine how the last stages of the game will be.”

“Overall, Undead horde is a smooth cross between Medieval and Overlord, offered at a stunning price. The controls are fantastic, the graphical layout and world design compliment each other perfectly. Re-animating is a lot of fun, as is deploying your horde and plundering the villages. The Gameplay is simple and very effective, the RPG elements and upgrade options are implemented wonderfully well helping to create a title that will keep you coming back for more. The only thing the game is missing, besides online play, is a real atmospheric approach.”
