How this trust score was computed
Trust blends alignment (40%): does the outlet rank games the way players do; decoded accuracy (30%): after translating the outlet's own scale habits (a '7/10 means mediocre' scale is decoded, not punished), how well its reviews predict player sentiment; and player-side (30%): on games where press consensus and players sharply disagreed, whose side it took. Recent reviews weigh more (2-year half-life), and the blend is shrunk toward a neutral prior (60) so small samples can't peg the scale. Player quality is launch-window Steam sentiment, so outlets aren't punished for reviewing a launch build that later got patched.
Controversy record: on 1 game where press consensus and players sharply disagreed, this reviewer sided with players 0 times.

“With Dissidia Final Fantasy NT jumping to the PS4 and all its power, suddenly the games characters and world look better than ever as well as supporting a new combat format to further diversify Dissidia from just being the usual fighting game. The final product is something that will most definitely appeal to fans of the series, but at the same time the experience just doesn't feel fully thought out or implemented effectively by its developer Team Ninja.”

“Despite its fan community already producing an excellent Sonic game this year, SEGA and Sonic Team have decided to release their own attempt with Sonic Forces. Utilising both its history and modern sensibilities, Sonic Forces hopes to capture the essence of the franchise but also offering a fun and different take on previous Sonic titles. Sonic Forces polishes up previous issues and implements some great new features, but it can't help but feel like it's running on the same old track with just smaller hurdles slowing it down.”

“A Hat In Time doesn't attempt to innovate or change the 3D Platformer. What it offers is tight responsive platforming with different levels around every corner. It's problems never ruin the experience as the usual feeling of fun is overwhelming. A Hat In Time has challenging bosses and worlds worth exploring in a game you'll find hard to put down.”

“So many times I couldn't help but be caught up in how awesome it was to dominate a variety of unique Uruks and using them to amass an extreme army to lead into battle. Shadow of War truly captures the adrenaline rush of epic scale fantasy conflicts that were present in Lord of the Rings, and manages to offer up an experience that will not be forgotten.”

“With Cuphead, StudioMDHR has managed to achieve a triumphant video game bringing to life a classic cartoon art style perfectly that is truly unique to this game. Being accompanied by such an excellent soundtrack and challenging yet gratifying gameplay, Cuphead easily becomes a standout platforming title that won't easily be forgotten. Although you may need to make a deal with a devil to win it, the surprising bosses and euphoric victories makes it more than worth it.”

“Sonic games have always been a roller coaster when it came to quality with often the best ones being the games that closely related back to past Sonic games. Sonic Mania, pulling inspiration from specifically the 2D versions of Sonic planned to not only offer a compelling return to form but also showcase how excellent a new Sonic game can be. Thankfully SEGA and significant developers of the Sonic community have brought this dream to life in what quite possibly is the best Sonic game yet.”

“As horror often treads common ground, it's great to see Little Nightmares manages to offer up a compelling and unique perspective unlike many games in its genre today. As weird and horrifying as the environments and characters you encounter, it was a constant joy to see what new surprises waited behind each door. Unlike most nightmares, you'll be disappointed when you wake up from this dream.”
