How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

“As someone who only came to the Yakuza games when Zero was released, getting the chance to play the whole series now is something that really appeals. The narrative in these games may not differ too much from one another, but it is more than made up with the varied and entertaining cast. Kiryu’s Yakuza with a heart personality really stands out and only made me love him even more, especially when he was being an unstoppable fighting machine.”

“Playing the games that you have a lot of memories with is always fun, especially if it's with upgraded visuals. If you recently played Yakuza 6 or the remastered version of Yakuza 2, you might not be that amazed with this collection's visuals, but it's still a nice addition to the series for the fans. ”

By updating the visuals, framerate, adding characters and content, and just proving that they are invested in the long haul for this series, shows that Sega is starting to get itself back in the game. “Whether you’re a Yakuza veteran with a desire to relive the franchise’s previous instalments, or a passive observer who has always wanted to dive into the series, the Yakuza Remastered Collection represents great value in a single package. With the upcoming ‘soft reboot’ of the series due in late 2020, the Yakuza Remastered Collection allows players to experience the full Kazuma Kiryu story on the PS4, and while the games definitely feel their age, the pack is something that is definitely worth your time if you haven’t experienced the madness that is a Yakuza game.”
