How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.
| Component | Positive | Quality (0-100) | Weight (pseudo-reviews) |

| All-time Steam reviews | 87% | 81 | 1990 |
| Metacritic user ratings | – | 76 | 251 |
| Post-patch Steam reviews (trust-weighted) | 94% | 89 | 3000 |

“It definitely feels like with Cyberpunk 2077 CD Projekt RED tried to tell a really meaningful story, while using as a backdrop a truly unique setting. And all the while the developers made sure that the game still feels approachable by all kind of people, and that it presents itself with insane graphical fidelity painting an image of an eerily realistic world of tomorrow. We doubt there are too many people who don't believe in CD Projekt RED, but in case you're one of them, be warned - Cyberpunk 2077 is something that will change the way you look at the gaming industry as a whole.”

“Cyberpunk 2077 offers a great sci-fi experience in which you can get lost for hours. It is not a revolutionary title in its genre, but it brings fresh changes. Whether it's new tasks, well-written dialogues, and characters, good stylized graphics, or very pleasant controls. Decision-making constructions leave you free where you need them. Conversely, they bind you in places where it is important. Everything fits together thanks to that. And if you were afraid that Cyberpunk 2077 would be a debacle. Throw this worry behind your head. Enjoy Night City to the fullest!”

“For better and worse, Cyberpunk 2077 is what it was always going to be: less a work of intensely relevant speculative fiction than a nostalgia piece for yesteryear’s vision of tomorrow.”

“Cyberpunk 2077 fails as a role playing game, although living in the cynical Night City is an impressive experience. The choices you make carry minimal weight. The characters are not distinctive. On the other hand, Night City is an incredibly beautiful and complex open world that almost cannot bear comparison. As an action game, Cyberpunk 2077 has its faults, but the combat experience is engrossing and multifaceted. In general, it is a very good game, which is a shame to let it lie idle, although perhaps it is better to wait for patches until spring. Defying Mike Pondsmith, Cyberpunk 2077 would be a marvel.”

“Cyberpunk 2077 has some seriously major technical problems, but it's worth putting up with them to experience a fantastically down-to-earth story that's accompanied by solid shooting and great music.”

“The era of the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X has arrived, but Cyberpunk 2077 is currently running on those next-gen platforms via backwards compatibility. A true next-gen update isn't due until sometime in 2021. That means CD Projekt Red developed a game for three platforms, and it's running on an acceptable level on just one (PC), provided you have the hardware. That is just plain ridiculous.”

“One of the best written games you'll ever play, but also pretty Cluttered and Messy.”

“It’s buggy and flawed on many technical (but very fixable) levels, but Cyberpunk 2077 is a unique and beautiful experience on almost all other levels. All in all, a masterpiece.”

“Cyberpunk 2077 proves that the developers have improved their skills since the fantastic The Witcher 3. It is an excellent action RPG that would benefit from a longer delay to polish the various issues. However, no amount of bugs can diminish the immense pleasure of exploring this world.”

“CD Projekt RED's management has absolutely rushed it out before it was properly ready, and at this stage it's very much a case of buyer beware. It’s clear that lots of effort has been put into creating Night City and the well-linked major gameplay systems, but even when putting the technical issues aside, it still feels much like many open-world games that have come before.”

“Mediocre combat, poor AI, and lackluster RPG options, but it's wrapped around a great world and intriguing story. Too bad about the endless bugs that practically ruin the game.”
