How this trust score was computed

Trust blends alignment (40%): does the outlet rank games the way players do; decoded accuracy (30%): after translating the outlet's own scale habits (a '7/10 means mediocre' scale is decoded, not punished), how well its reviews predict player sentiment; and player-side (30%): on games where press consensus and players sharply disagreed, whose side it took. Recent reviews weigh more (2-year half-life), and the blend is shrunk toward a neutral prior (60) so small samples can't peg the scale. Player quality is launch-window Steam sentiment, so outlets aren't punished for reviewing a launch build that later got patched.

WORLD OF HORRORNov 25, 2023 · David Aedo

As much as I absolutely want to love this game so badly, it is painfully obvious that this "official launch" version is extremely unfinished, with pointless items, dead end quests, and glitches galore. Worst of all, my saved keeps deleting itself occasionally, so I can't even make any real progress if I wanted to. The current state of the game, especially after years of early access, makes a recommendation impossible; this should not have gone up for sale in its condition.

Super Mario Bros. WonderNov 6, 2023 · David Aedo

It's one thing to want to make your game more accessible to a wider audience, but Mario: Wonder took it way, way too far. The easiest and most boring 2D Mario game by a wide margin. I haven't been more disappointed in a game in quite a while.

    SIGNALISOct 19, 2023 · David Aedo

A few missteps here and there, but there's no denying how good this game is. While it might not be as polished and quite as well thought out as I would like, it's undeniably full of heart. Finally, a true competitor that stands tall with original trilogy of Resident Evil and Silent Hill games.

    Cassette BeastsAug 22, 2023 · David Aedo

Pokemon, except not garbage. A very creative take on a clear ripoff of Nintendo's popular franchise, and one that's far more effective than the source inspiration.

    Resident Evil 4Jul 27, 2023 · David Aedo

A legendary game of its generation that's still well worth playing today.

    Bat BoyJul 10, 2023 · David Aedo

Not a bad 2D action sidescroller at all, but it's also not that big of a deal either. The potential is there for a great game, but a lack of content, lack of difficulty, and questionable choices with the special moves leaves this game a little subpar. It does come close and it's a solid game overall, but I can't help but feel that it could've been so much more. Oh well. It's still a fun game.

    Returnal™Mar 5, 2023 · David Aedo

Returnal is in an odd place. It feels too easy for hardcore roguelike fans, but also too difficult for casual audiences. Personally, I like the middle ground that it's going for, but it still is a roguelike which means that it's burdened by annoying aspects such as terrible balancing and repetitive gameplay. On top of everything, high price tag is very off putting considering the low amount of content, even if it controls very well and is one of the best looking games of the genre.

A boring single player campaign and poor, delay based netcode really bring down what is otherwise an excellent 2D fighting game. Fantastic visuals, excellent controls, and just a ton of fun to play, however you're much better off waiting for the updated Granblue Fantasy: Versus Rising to come out instead.

Although this game is very creative and pretty faithful to the source material, it is simply too unreliable due to the bugs and the poor combat makes the gameplay unfun. This is quite the experience, but only the most diehard fans of the show will put up with the shortcomings to see this game to the end.

    Breakers CollectionJan 25, 2023 · David Aedo

A basic but fun and accessible retro fighting game. The netcode is both under populated and is probably lacking in quality over larger distances, so it's not great to play online, but the foundation is there to make this a solid 2D fighting game that's good enough on its own merits. This audience for this has to be very niche, but this isn't a bad game to buy under specific circumstances.

    WavetaleDec 11, 2022 · David Aedo

A cute little game that's too shallow to mean much. With more content and deeper mechanics, I could see this going somewhere, but it's hardly worth much as it stands.

    SwordshipDec 10, 2022 · David Aedo

A roguelike that pretends to be an arcade game. The action is a lot of fun, but the random elements make chasing after a high score more frustrating than satisfying. Pretty fun for a single playthrough up the main credits, but the lack of replay value or additional game modes keep this from being anything special.

Anyone who is serious about video games as an artistic medium is required to play this game. It's flawed in a few ways, but have patience and you'll find a modern day classic waiting for you at the end. Do not miss the opportunity; play this game now.

    FrogunAug 30, 2022 · David Aedo

If it weren't for the bugs and glitches, I would love to give this a wholehearted recommendation, but at the moment players should wait for a patch to fix things up. Aside from that, Frogun is a great retro inspired 3D platformer that might be a little too simple for its own good but still a solid and very fun game.
