How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.
| Component | Positive | Quality (0-100) | Weight (pseudo-reviews) |

| Metacritic user ratings | – | – | 0 |
| Post-patch Steam reviews (trust-weighted) | 55% | 56 | 4 |

“Phantom Breaker: Omnia is just okay. The fighting has some depth to it, but feels overly simplistic and floaty. There’s a good amount of singleplayer stuff, but no rollback netcode for multiplayer.”

“With colorful and stylish anime characters, a few dollops of funky personalities, and a host of modes to try to give you as much bang for your buck as possible, Phantom Breaker: Omnia deserves some credit for throwing as much into the package as it can...”

“Despite lots of competition, fighting fans will no doubt enjoy this new game in the Phantom Breaker series. Although it doesn’t offer anything new, it has a wealth of options and if you want to complete the game 100%, this will take quite the amount of time. If you think you’ve played through all the fighters currently on offer, Phantom Breaker Omnia will give you an all new challenge!”

“Phantom Breaker: Omnia’s flashy cast of fighters are easy to learn and take through great single player content but dated systems and basic multiplayer hold this anime fighter back.”

“With its low barrier of entry for controls and special moves; Omina is easy to pick up and just moderately difficult to master and with its rollback netcode for online multiplayer when you need a break from some of the bigger anime fighters, I recommend checking out Phantom Breaker: Omina.”

“Its old fashioned graphics and weird movements are the most biggest wall for new comers. When you overcome those awkwardness, an elaborate combat system and high-speed battle await you. Single play modes are good but multi play environment is not.”

“Otherwise, Phantom Breaker: Omnia is a solid enough 2D anime versus that I’m happy to have finally seen localized. Plenty of characters with their own personal fighting styles before applying secondary mechanics and there’s more than enough to keep fighting enthusiasts going especially with the online versus component.”

“All in all, Phantom Breaker: Omnia is an essential game for lovers of the style, and if a small amateur like me enjoyed it so much, I can imagine the pleasure that a veteran and lover of fighting games can feel when giving himself body and soul to this title.”

“Phantom Breaker: Omnia isn't a bad fighting game. The fighting seems deep at first but quickly turns chaotic with plenty of moves that don't look like they connect and a roster that looks more generic than impressive. The presentation is OK with decent music and graphics that look a touch underwhelming. The modes are numerous, but those who will want to play online will be disappointed at the lack of rollback netcode. The Switch is already blessed with a bevy of solid fighting games, so the only reason to grab this one is if you really want all of the fighting games that the system has to offer.”

“This latest release already feels dated when put next to current fighting games. With other games getting re-released simultaneously with better netcode and a more cohesive style I fear many players will look over this title.”

“Phantom Breaker: Omnia is a long-awaited release of a dormant niche fighting game franchise that many players will be jumping into for the very first time. It's the best first impression you'll get for this fighter, but it's also one that can be overwhelming and hard to sift through for those not completely ready for it.”

“Phantom Breaker: Omnia brings strong oldschool vibes and it's good in terms of gameplay and characters. It is too much oldschool in terms of singleplayer and multiplayer content, and that's not very positive.”
