How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

“Titanfall 2 is everything Titanfall should have been, storified, robust, and sufficiently multiplatform. The real series starts here, and I’m surprised at how nothing at all feels phoned in or tacked-on.”

“There's a few games that compete with Titanfall 2 as a vehicle for multiplayer chaos, but there's nothing out there like its single-player campaign.”

“Titanfall 2 brings some much needed improvements to its predecessor but lengthy matchmaking, questionable multiplayer additions, and the removal of some features considered intrinsic to the franchise make it tough to recommend. Pick it up after a price drop.”

“It's tough to recommend Titanfall 2 anymore. In its heyday, the online population was large enough but it's pretty much dead these days. The single player campaign is great but this is definitely a game that has quickly gone past its age. It's so unfortunate because this was one of the best multiplayer first person shooters I've ever played.”

“Titanfall 2 is a constant delight. There were many points in the game where I audibly exclaimed how cool and awesome something was. I am hyped to play more of it and I definitely want to play through the campaign again. With a glut of first person shooters being released this season, Titanfall 2 stands out as something that should be played with its fantastic campaign and enjoyable multiplayer.”

“Titanfall 2 takes the first spot in the frantic, close-quarter scenario shooters. Respawn Entertainment has put a lot of effort in this game, clearly aiming to take the spot of the Call of Duty franchise, whose last entry will be on stores in a few days. An amazing campaign and an entertaining multiplayer. ”

“Given that its oddly timed publishing schedule saw it emerge as the filling between a COD/Battlefield sandwich during the busiest release window of the year, it's fair to say that Titanfall 2 certainly had its work cut out to get noticed. Despite this, Respawn Entertainment has delivered a solid package that ticks all the right boxes for fans of the first-person shooter, and does so by forging a unique identity in an overcrowded genre that seemingly ran out of fresh ideas some time back. With the promise of free DLC for the duration of its lifetime, here's hoping that Titanfall 2 has a long tail.”

“Titanfall 2 is one of the best shooters released this year. Respawn Entertainment mixed an unforgettable singleplayer campaign with an excellent multiplayer suite, creating the ultimate action package, something that every gamer worth their salt should at least try.”

“Titanfall 2 offers the complete package: a solid, inventive single-player campaign that manages to avoid being yet another cover shooter with respawning enemies, combined with a frenetic and unique multiplayer mode.”

“Titanfall 2 is what the first-person genre so desperately needed: an injection of originality. The divine single player campaign is something truly special, and we won't be forgetting any of its standout moments in a hurry. Couple this with a deep multiplayer serving that offers a variety of modes and unique gameplay mechanics and you've got one of the best FPS games of the generation so far.”

“Titanfall 2 comes across as a beefier experience overall. The multiplayer mode hits the mark almost on every level while addressing most of the complaints gamers had with the original game. On top of that, now you have a proper campaign, which may not be very memorable but serves as a nice addition and a testament to Resapawn's commitment with its fans.”
