How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.
| Component | Positive | Quality (0-100) | Weight (pseudo-reviews) |

| All-time Steam reviews | 63% | 62 | 259 |
| Metacritic user ratings | – | 69 | 17 |
| Post-patch Steam reviews (trust-weighted) | 84% | 78 | 1 |

“CYGNI: All Guns Blazing offers plenty of fun for anyone who wants to play it casually, simply dodging obstacles, destroying enemy missiles, and admiring the visual design. And, of course, it’s also suitable for players who aren’t drawn to shoot ’em ups where a single hit means game over. On the other hand, the game cannot be recommended to anyone who likes to chase perfect runs and the highest possible score. This type of player will likely set CYGNI aside after a few hours.”

“CYGNI: All Guns Blazing is an ambitious title that combines exceptional visuals with some innovative gameplay mechanics. However, behind the breathtaking aesthetics, the game suffers from core gameplay issues that can occasionally make the experience frustrating and less engaging than expected.”

“Cygni: All Guns Blazing provides an exhilarating and action-packed shmup experience for hardcore players. The customizable ship options are impressive, the energy allocation mechanic is unique, the visual and sounds are immersive, and the game is sure to keep players on the edge of their seats, bringing its full bullet hell twin stick shooter glory to modern audiences.”

“If you’ve been looking for a more modern take on Touhou, Radiant Silvergun, or any of the many other bullet hell shooters on the market, CYGNI: All Guns Blazing ticks the box. It’s fast, it’s frantic, and it looks frankly unbelievable at times. And considering it’s being flogged at half the price of most other modern PS5 titles, it represents relatively reasonable value for money, too.”

“KeelWorks did a great job bringing vertical-scrolling shmups up to speed with modern trends. Despite its pacing issues and overall visual clutter, Cygni delivers an intense shoot-'em-up experience.”

“A vertical sci-fi shoot-em-up with sublime atmospheric graphics and some incredible encounters, Cygni is ultimately let down by its lack of identity and a sharp difficulty spike straight from the launch pad. Shunting power between shields and weapons makes for a fun mechanic, but unless you’re a shmup aficionado, it’s a hard package to recommend.”

“Though it takes time and skill to master, Cygni: All Guns Blazing is a satisfying arcade-style shoot 'em up that only gets better with replays.”

“All in all CYGNI: All Guns Blazing is a terrific title for shoot ‘em up fans. It has everything they need, such as a twisting take on the gameplay, the rudimentary plot of kicking alien butt, an RPG system to make your ship your own custom weapon, and even a mandatory co-op mode for your partner or friend to enjoy the game as well. It just requires some tweaks here in there, especially in the graphics department, to be enjoyed thoroughly, but still plays and feels like any other arcade shoot ’em up.”

“However, anyone who’s better at shoot ’em ups will surely get more enjoyment out of CYGNI: All Guns Blazing than I did.”

“Cygni: All Guns Blazing is a "jack of all trades" type of shooter. It isn't afraid to use as many different gameplay mechanics as possible, and it isn't fearful of creating chaotic situations almost all of the time. You'll wish that more time had been spent refining these elements or adding some quality-of-life elements and tweaks to make the mix stand out more positively. What's available is good enough that hardcore shooting fans will enjoy it, and the hope is that improvements are made to tighten up the experience either through various patches or a potential sequel.”

“CYGNI: All Guns Blazing is an instant arcade classic in every sense of the term. It captures the charm and challenge of traditional arcade games, while also exhibiting the unintuitiveness and minimal storytelling typical of coin-op classics. Despite this, it shines as a AAA wonder, featuring the high-quality graphics and audio you’d expect from a major studio. Balancing these strengths and weaknesses, CYGNI sets a blazing trail for other classic arcade shoot-em-ups to follow and soar into the skyline of modern gaming.”

“CYGNI: All Guns Blazing is a heart-stopping, adrenaline-fueled shoot-em-up. Its steep learning curve may initially deter gamers, but mastering its intricacies leads to an incredibly rewarding and satisfying experience. The sheer intensity of the action is almost overwhelming, pushing the limits of human perception, yet it’s undeniably impressive in its fearless approach.”
