How this trust score was computed

This reviewer publishes verdicts, not numbers, so trust comes from their recommend/pan calls: call accuracy (50%): when they say buy, do players end up satisfied, and when they say skip, do players agree; alignment (25%): do their recommendations sort games the way players do; and player-side (25%): on games where press and players sharply disagreed, whose side were they on. The blend is shrunk toward a neutral prior (60) so small histories can't peg the scale, and recent verdicts weigh more (2-year half-life).

    Sovereign TowerAug 24, 2026 · Sascha Ritter

Sovereign Tower is a game operating on a very high level. I enjoyed much of the writing, and the characters earned special places in my heart. Despite some sluggish moments in the later stages, the gameplay loop of managing audiences and roundtable affairs represents a highly unique evolution of the "Confidant systems" already familiar from other genres. I just wish the inconsistent time travel had a greater impact on the gameplay or the narrative.

The Mermaid MaskAug 19, 2026 · Timo Wienekamp

Actually, the word “pleasant” describes The Mermaid Mask very well. The story, the characters, the sound, and the graphics are exactly that: pleasant. Not mind-blowing, but very, very nice.

Servant of the LakeAug 14, 2026 · Janine Dillo

The point-and-click adventure Servant of the Lake captivates players with its macabre humor and increasingly bizarre puzzles. At the same time, the story surrounding the Vanderboom siblings grows increasingly dark.

    DuskfadeAug 13, 2026 · Sebastian Küpper

Duskfade is a well-designed 3D platformer sporting quite a few intense platforming sequences and only few less exciting stretches. The weakest aspect of the game certainly are the fights against small enemies, but luckily they typically only last for a short while and rarely stands in the way of the game's flow.

Pipistrello and the Cursed YoyoAug 12, 2026 · Sebastian Küpper

Pipistrello and the Cursed Yoyo is an imaginative, meticulously designed Zelda-like game that comes highly recommended to anyone who enjoys the genre. Both the world and dungeon designs are captivating, and the yo-yo abilities bring a breath of fresh air to the subgenre.

Disgaea MayhemAug 8, 2026 · Thomas Bastian Hildebrandt

Disgaea Mayhem is a brief action title that doesn't take itself too seriously. Its combat system is simple and accessible, with mission durations and story length just right to avoid exhaustion. Those who crave more beyond the story missions can endlessly grow stronger through the Item World, as long as motivation holds.

    Doloc TownAug 7, 2026 · Janine Dillo

The vertical farming sim Doloc Town has successfully exited Early Access. Farming activities involving plants and animals are convincingly rendered in the side-view perspective. While the NPCs rarely initiate dialogue outside of cutscenes, the area outside the city offers plenty to explore and discover. The story now comes to a satisfying conclusion, and the new area has become a real highlight.

The Incident at Galley HouseAug 3, 2026 · Sascha Ritter

The numerous plot twists—as well as the shifts in our own perception of the events—would likely not be possible if we simply had to read the story in its written form. That’s why The Incident of Galley House has become one of my favorite games of the year.

Assassin's Creed Black Flag ResyncedAug 2, 2026 · Barbara Ritter

Thirteen years later, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced hasn’t lost any of its charm, and for me, it’s coming at just the right time. For quite a while now, I’ve been itching to build a fleet with Edward Kenway again and just follow my nose as I explore the Caribbean, board ships, and dive for underwater treasure. The new officers and missions fit seamlessly into the familiar framework and, along with the many tweaks scattered throughout, bring a breath of fresh air to the black sails. For me, this return trip to the Caribbean with Edward Kenway was totally worth it!

    DinobladeJul 30, 2026 · Sascha Ritter

Dinoblade has never managed to move beyond its status as a meme from four years ago; the narrative and gameplay hardly build on this whimsical idea at all. Instead, the game becomes repetitive, loses its appeal over time due to its boring level design, and is more frustrating because of its technical shortcomings than because of any clever game design.

    TeetoJul 28, 2026 · Sebastian Küpper

Teeto is an entertaining 3D platformer which, whilst it doesn’t introduce any new ideas, does a good job of bringing together the familiar concepts of the genre and offers around eight hours of good entertainment thanks to its well-designed gameplay and solid level design. Due to its low difficulty level and simple controls, Teeto is also suitable for beginners and younger players.

    The TourystJul 23, 2026 · Sebastian Küpper

The Touryst is a laid-back, short action-adventure game which, in my view, takes the laid-back vibe a bit too far and features a few tasks that strike me as a bit like occupational therapy. The short dungeons and arcade-style mini-games, on the other hand, are well done. If the storyline appeals to you and you can live with the fact that the puzzle concepts aren’t fully explored, you can enjoy a few hours of stress-free fun with The Touryst.

The farming sim Farlands may not reinvent the wheel, but it does combine familiar gameplay with an unusual setting.

K-pop Idol Stories: Road to DebutJul 16, 2026 · Janine Dillo

Unfortunately, the first thing that stands out in K-pop Idol Stories: Road to Debut is the large number of bugs and game crashes affecting the Nintendo Switch version. Auto-saves are rarely as important as they are here, even though it’s not always possible to resume playing smoothly even then.

    Denshattack!Jul 15, 2026 · Sebastian Küpper

Denshattack!! is a great arcade platformer with clear inspiration from Tony Hawk. The exaggerated style fits the unique and energetic gameplay perfectly and the game brings a surprising amount of levels considering its tight design. If you find the idea behind the game at least somewhat interesting, you should give it a try. Personally, Denshattack!! rivals Yoshi and the Mysterious Book as my favourite game experience of the year.
