How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

“So, how does Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced ultimately stack up? Is it worth giving this game a chance? The answer is obvious: absolutely. The original Black Flag was already considered, at the time of its release, not only one of the best pirate games but also one of the best titles of that era. It’s a game that stole the hearts of players around the world and remains highly acclaimed to this day. Resynced, on the other hand, is an incredibly faithful adaptation of this classic for modern times. It offers more beautiful audiovisuals, streamlined combat, improved stealth elements, still-outstanding naval battles, and hours of truly great, fresh content.”

“Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced is a great remake of an already tremendous video game, and one I imagine I’ll continue playing long after this review goes live. Despite its removal of the present-day sequences, it still maintains the heart of the original and makes its brightest spots shine as bright as ever. “In the end, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag Resynced provided an enjoyable experience, but it did not achieve what I was expecting from a game that carries the description of a 'remake.' It succeeded in clearly developing the gameplay, whether through improving combat, climbing, and ship combat, which are elements that made returning to the pirates' world more enjoyable and smoother than ever before. On the other hand, the concept of a remake was not reflected in the remaining aspects as required, as the story did not witness fundamental changes, the Animus story was completely deleted, and the graphical level came closer to an enhanced remaster than to a true remake, alongside a number of technical problems and bugs that affected the experience. Therefore, as a fan of the original part, I felt intense enjoyment while playing this version and loved it very much, but I was expecting a complete rebuilding that keeps pace with the capabilities of the current generation, and the game did not meet these expectations.”

“Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is a remake done right, and I will praise Ubisoft for handling it this way. It is not just a visual treat; it adds new mechanics in nearly every aspect of the game to expand it and immerse the player even more in the world of piracy. I can easily say that there is no other game ever made that captures the true essence of being a pirate. Even Ubisoft’s Skull and Bones does not come close to it, and that was a proper game made for pirates. Whether you are a long-term Assassin’s Creed fan, an old Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag player, or a new player just experiencing this brilliant franchise, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is a gorgeous remake that will keep you occupied for hours. This is Ubisoft gold.”

“At one point, Kenway says, “It ain’t work if you love it,” but it’s hard to love the work that goes into a lot of the sailing you do. But push through the tedium and you may just be gobsmacked by the game’s beauty, as in the way you weave between lightning blasts and massive waterspouts during a storm, until the Caribbean returns to its natural state.”

“Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced is a great game, that's true, but I just couldn't get past the underwhelming value for the price. This is, without a doubt, a great installment of AC in every respect, the graphics are definitely decent, the interactive music playlist is awesome, the ships are there, and the story is still fantastic, but to me, it just feels like you’re getting uncomfortably little for the price. If you’re looking for a nostalgic trip and don’t mind the occasional clunky combat, the Caribbean will undoubtedly draw you in once again, but then the question arises: did that happen out of nostalgia, or the sheer joy of playing the game? To put it simply, is it a great Assassin’s Creed? Yes. Is it worth it? Yes. With your own money? No, with the money your grandma gave you for Christmas.”
